A wet and grey afternoon in the middle of a week that has been busier and more stressful than anticipated. But now I am home from running errands in the rain and wind, and I'm going to make a cup of tea and tell you about some books.

Now I'm thinking I'll pick up II instead of I, if I left such a bad taste in your mouth. I hate books that do that to their readers!

Yes, that might be a good choice. Your opinion may be different, of course, but I can't really recommend Giants in the Earth. Lydia Davis, on the other hand, I can always recommend!

I remember just loving Crossing to Safety. I started reading Angle of Repose very late in my pregnancy with Suzannah; I also remember thinking it would be such a difficult book, but I didn’t find it to be at the time. Of course then I ended up going into labor a full month early and didn’t finish or go back to it. Well over seven years later it’s back on my to-read list, so I’m really interested to read your thoughts on it!

That's great story of life getting in the way--"Sorry Wallace Stegner, I was too busy having a baby!" Anyhow, I will certainly post more about Angle of Repose as I continue to read it. It's my first book of his, but if I like it I'll have to check out Crossing to Safety too.
