Fugitive Pieces by Anne Michaels: Sigh. I wanted to love this book, and for a while I thought I would. The first third of the book is devastating, full of gorgeous prose and powerful images.

And I fully support the idea of reading E.M. Forster. He's right up at the very top of my list of favorite writers. If you're looking for a good place to start, you can't go wrong with A Room with a View, and Maurice is my personal favorite of his novels.
