Race: Caucasian
Background Personality: First and foremost, it has to be said: Garrod is hot-blooded. In fact, the only Gundam protagonist who's unarguably more hot-blooded is Domon Kasshu himself. He shouts a lot while on the battlefield, is one of, like, three characters in the entire series who uses "ore" to refer to himself, and pretty much lives by his emotions.
With Garrod, what you see is usually what you get. As I said before, he lives by his emotions, and he isn't afraid to show them. If something's on his mind, he says it. A good example of this is when he is trying to persuade Jamil to let him sortie in the Gundam X to rescue Tiffa. One of the things he says is that he liked (yes, that kind of liked) Tiffa from the very beginning. He says this completely unabashedly, too.
Despite this, Garrod does have the feelings of a typical 15-year-old. Sure, he has no problem telling Jamil that he likes Tiffa. Telling Tiffa herself, however? Completely different story.
Garrod also has instances when he's not so straightforward. For one, Garrod has no issues whatsoever fighting dirty. In one instance, when trying to escape from the Freeden prior to his joining its crew, he put Tiffa in the Gundam's hands and held her out for the Freeden to see. Another time, he put a gun to the captain of a spaceship to escape. And yet another time can be found when confronting the SRA with their colony laser. Garrod fired a warning shot from the Double X's Twin Satellite Cannons and demanded Tiffa's release in exchange for leaving the colony laser in one piece. When no word came back, Garrod fired a second shot, strafing the colony. Finally, after Tiffa was released, Garrod went back on his word and fired a third shot, completely obliterating the colony.
Despite some of these qualities that some consider negative, Garrod has some distinctly positive qualities. First, he's extremely resourceful. Not surprising considering the world he lives in, but even there, Garrod is ridiculously resourceful. In his very first appearance, he captures a Mobile Suit armed with nothing more than a homemade chaff grenade and a handgun. He also proves time and again that a prison cell cannot hold him. He's an expert at picking locks, and carries around a bit of sleeping gas to use on guards.
Secondly, Garrod is loyal to those who have earned his trust. Whenever Garrod tries to leave the Freeden, he always comes back of his own free will. In fact, even after he managed to escape his cell on the Freeden, he wouldn't escape, because he refused to abandon Tiffa. He also manages to get similar results from the people around him -- by the end of the series, the crew of the Freeden II is extremely tightly-knit, and Garrod is one of the two central points of the crew.
And finally, Garrod never, ever gives up. If you knock him down, he will get back up every time and kick your ass for knocking him down in the first place. Sure, he shows reluctance to do things, but in the end, he just grits his teeth and does what he feels he needs to do. And he won't let anyone tell him he can't do something. If you tell him he can't beat a Cyber-Newtype, he'll train and train until he can take out each and every one of those damn bits with precision shots from his beam rifle. Going up against an entire army? No problem! He may not win the first attempt, but he'll be damned if he doesn't take a heavy portion of their forces with him. He won't even give up if he's told that the future only holds failure for him. And he will prove the critics wrong. Every. Single. Damn. Time.
Mecha Description:
Robot Name: GX-9900 DV Gundam X Divider
Robot Description: During the disastrous battle at Fort Severn, Garrod Ran's Gundam X was badly damaged and the Satellite Cannon destroyed. As a result, it needed to be overhauled and rebuilt to return to combat readiness. Luckily, Kid Salsamille, the Freeden's resident mechanic, had collected a large number of spare parts, including battleship cannons and an experimental opening shield. Using these spare parts, Kid worked night and day to construct the Gundam X Divider.
The Gundam X Divider has many of the same parameters as its original model. The armor is made of a lunar titanium alloy, giving it much more durability than the typical mobile suit. The Gundam X's propulsion system was also carried over, so it has the same maneuverability, including flight. However, it does not function well in water, due in no small part to the fact that almost all of its weaponry is beam-based. Also, due to the heavy modifications, the Gundam X Divider is no longer capable of docking with the G-Falcon.
Weapons:
-4x vulcan gun, fire-linked, mounted in chest
-2x beam sabers, stored in backpack
-Two-barrel beam machine gun
-Underwater hyper bazooka, only issued when the Gundam X Divider is expected to engage in underwater combat
-2x X-grenade, stored on left hip armor storage rack
Most notable, though, is the shield, known as the Divider. The Divider is a shield, as tall as the mobile suit itself, that can open up to expose 18 beam guns. When linked, these beam guns are known as a "beam harmonica." The Divider also contains rocket thrusters to enhance the Gundam X Divider's jumping ability and to allow it atmospheric flight.

Tiffa Adill
"I believe in you. I want to see you press ahead."
While they aren't an official couple yet, Garrod cares about Tiffa more than he does about anyone else on base. He can tell that life for her has sucked hard, and wants to make her happy. And this goes beyond the job he was hired for -- what Garrod wants more than anything is to give Tiffa a world in which she has reason to smile.
