Bookmobile and Life in General

Jul 15, 2009 11:16

I am sitting outside the Nespelem City Hall in the Bookmobile. The generator is running so we have air conditioning and our internet is working this time. I really cannot complain about this job. The long hours driving are offset by the scenary and the communitiees we visit. Last week we were at Larson Heights Elementary in Moses Lake on Monday. And this Monday and every Monday until August 10th. Ameri-corps is offering a summer school and lunch to the neighborhood kids. We go home on Mondays and our big travel days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays usually. Last week we traveled to Orient up near the Canadian Border and spent the night at Coulee Dam so we could leave early the next morning for a promotional visit to help out the Quincy Library with fundraising for their new library. Another night at Coulee Dam so we could arrive early at Inchelium on the Res. Came home by way of the Inchelium Ferry. Long drive home but magnificent views of the mountains and the Columbia. Two nights away from home is hard. This week we went to Keller on Tuesday. While waiting for the Keller Ferry we took a walk to the campground near the river. It is a beautiful camp ground near the river. It nearly convinced me that camping would be a good thing and that is saying something as I hate to camp. When we walked back to the Ferry we saw 6 deer in the brush. Then I take a half-hour boat ride in the middle of my day and get paid for it. Can I really complain about my job? Stayed again at Coulee Dam to get to Nespelem early today. Next week is a two-nighter again. Job Corps, a night in Republic, Curlew school and another night in Coulee Dam and then back to Nespelem

That is all the bookmobile stuff. I could rave endlessly about what I see everyday out here. It is all so beautiful.

In other news, not much. I come home and read, watch my I-Pod, and on Thursdays when I am working In-House in Wenatchee, I am still doing my little TV show.

I bought art supplies for the Grandkids and that has been fun. I signed them up for summer reading so we all have to get some reading done. We are getting organized slowly and working out how 5 adults and 3 kids can live together in harmony. It is chaos but a good kind of chaos most of the time.

That updates all I have been doing for the last 6 weeks.
