It's this same kind of thinking that's haunted the comics scene for ages. And looking at the way that comics have turned out, it obviously festers and results in equally bad fare for the boys eventually.
When my wife was working in a daycare there was this one girl who's parents insisted that she play with only "gender neutral" toys. This didn't work very well, because when they weren't looking she'd always reach for the girly dolls. I view MacDonalds' pointless selection as equally as thoughtless as this.
That's stupid. The same way that it's stupid I struggle to find bright boys clothing. Apparently boys should only be dressed in soft blue or drab green or grey. Hello! What about red and yellow and so on.
Also some little girls aren't that into pink. I didn't like pink a lot until I was around 20.
I don't have to buy McDonald's but I don't think the loss of my dollars is going to help the situation.
I remember buying clothes for my babies and toddlers that were in bright greens, blues, reds, yellow. Suitable for either boys or girls. I really have to look for girls clothing that is not lavender or pink or some pastel variation.
Well, you could go expensive like Lands End I guess.
I wouldn't mind black for either boys or girl or any color. I just hate the not so subtle sexism in prevalence today.
