Let me tell a story... FFXI...

So, once upon a time, azumauta and I were in a Limbus shell called EternalLight, and it was good times. I got 3 Homam pieces there, a little bit of AF+1 and some coinage. We had some good times. It was led by a taru couple named Fawk and Sekzy who are, by all accounts, pretty decent people. Numerous friends were there as well, such as mewingnorthstar, neresh and draxyle. Much ( Read more... )

Yeah, depending on what happens we might do small-scale Limbus like that again, as Ket still wants coinage and to upgrade AF. I'm not as concerned, but I'd still like to upgrade some BLM AF and WAR and DRG when I get there.

Even though this one was fully FFXI I actually think I see what you are getting at here!!

I'm sorry they're trying to force you to play a job you don't even enjoy. My boyfriend went through a lot of the same troubles with his druid in WoW, before the Burning Crusade expansion came out. It started with him saying "I'm going feral" which they all seemed to be okay with, but all the while telling him he was an inferior spec and thus not useful at all :( And luckily while it's never happened to me, I've heard many stories of people being forced into a spec in WoW because that's how the guild operates. Honestly as long as it is played well, who cares what they are doing... it's their $14.99/month!

Even more obnoxious that you said something beforehand and no protests were made, and now they spring this on you... :(

I understand the whole "efficiency" part of the argument I was given, but at the same time, I think it's disrespectful and inefficient to force people onto jobs/builds they hate. What's worse is, as you say, both of us had brought it up beforehand, no objections were raised, and then once it was reality, they drop this on me.

But like you say also, it's our money per month, and we should play in the ways that make us happy and make it worth that money. So yeah, I left that guild, they can shove it =P Still sucks, to spend time with people and enjoy that time and then have them turn on you like that, but oh well.

LOL - just do what a BRD did when asked to come on it for dynamis one time, showed up in full lizard gear with a flute!

I understand the BRD thing, I really do - I've hit the point where the last limbus run I went to I was barked at straight away to "get BRD plz" and just logged out. I'm not allowed to un-gear the job, so I keep the gear as deliberately hard to access as possible - so it's easier for them to ask other people to play the job instead of waiting for me to faff about getting my gear for it. Yes it's being deliberately arkward, but so far it's working.

Just the way it goes if you level the infernal job of hell.

Ket really enjoys her other jobs - NIN, WHM, RDM - but hates BRD and often would have the same thing happen to her: log in, be semi-excited about playing WHM or NIN or RDM, then immediately get barked at to come on BRD, it'd destroy her playing mood, and she'd log off.

It just sucks imo that so many people have so little respect for people's playing desires and are willing to impede their fun like that.

Objection! Objection I say!

It's crap like this that continues to keep my interest in end game low. Dynamis is hard enough for me. I really hope that if I ever get to sea it's a better experience. /sigh

Though I'm very amused by cesariauk's suggestion of lizard gear and a flute.

There's less to do in sea, you've only got Limbus and sea gods and sea gods aren't as frequented as sky gods are. Sea is fun times though usually :)

there's more to do in sea, IMO. You can pop/duo all the lower level ix's... capes. omnomnom capes.
