We'll start with the non-FFXI stuff, since I figure that's a little more applicable to all readers of this journal, whereas the FFXI stuff is only for a few. I have at least one or two rants that have been simmering lately and I've meant to write about them as they came up, but I'm a lazy bastard and didn't quite get around to it until now

No, because the ozone hole isn't a "hole". It's a reduced concentration of ozone in certain areas that doesn't absorb as much UV radiation. Gases can't "escape" the earth's gravitational pull very easily (though they slowly do diffuse out - our atmosphere is slowly being sucked out into outer space - don't tell that to the environmentalists, though, they might think that we'll have to increase gravity or something to keep it here).

FYI, you can only take 18 into Dyn-Tav anyway, so no issue with 24 or so on the shell. ;)
