Vote today!

If you're over 18 and live in Virginia, please remember to vote in today's state and local elections. And when you vote, please vote for Tim Kaine. No, he's not the best, but he's not Jerry Kilgore. Lots of economic and social issues are at stake, and more could be at stake depending on the actions of the USSC under Roberts ( Read more... )

I sent in my absentee ballot last week. w00t.

And, yeah, I voted for Kaine, but that pretty much goes without saying.

Hells yeah. Anything to get the word out! I know our house alone has gotten 8 calls from Kilgore reps asking us to vote for him...

Hopefully I can counteract some of that with the calls *I* make.

Really? I think we've only gotten one call asking us to support Kilgore.

We did, however, get a very sneaky ad from the Kilgore campaign telling us that we should vote for Potts, and not Kaine, because he would better represent our "Democrat and progressive" values. I'm guessing someone has us pegged as the Democratic base.

Oh we got that mailing too! That was probably the lowest piece of propaganda I have seen in a while. But yeah, the democrat's plan for this election was to call "known" democrats- thats probably why you got more calls from them.

On the other hand, no one in my family has voted since we moved here (there havnt been any elections), so we are considered unknowns. And that is precisly who the Kilgore campaign is targeting...

That was probably because the "knowns" have been in the state long enough to remember how much better Warner has been than Gilmore.

Anyway, it seems like the plan worked. We pretty much owned (by Virginia standards.) Unfortunately, it looks like McDonnell and Bolling might win, and they're quite possibly more reactionary than Kilgore.

I have to admit--all I really know about this election is what I've seen on the never-ending smear campaign, and all that's done is tell me that both candidates have at least a bit of asshatery in them.

Educate me, Emma! Show me the error of my way!

They are both asshats, but Kilgore is worse. Kaine will basically continue Warner's policies. Kilgore would probably have tried to imitate Bush.

I voted, but not for Kaine due to geographic dificulties.
