Here's an opportunity to go nuts and redesign someone else's room...I'm buying my first house and nearly all of the rooms are scruffy and need to be redecorated. I know what I'm going to do with most of them, but I'm totally stuck on what to do with the bathroom, so I thought I'd throw the metaphorical doors open to all of your ideas and ( Read more... )

My default for bathrooms (unless it would just obviously look bad) is a foresty green. I just really think "Bonzai tree," I think. Very thin and slight as far as decoration and green and woody.

I also like deep reds and blues with black and silver, but I'm not sure that would with the border on your walls.

That window is BEAUTIFUL!!!! If you're not redoing the floor or ceiling (and i'd leave the ceiling in place for sure), the idea of a Deep Forest Green "below the chair rail" as (lj user="cyren_2132 "> suggested sounds great! For above -- perhaps a lighter, woodsy green -- or a taupe and a mural of deep woods/wood nymphs/"magical woods" kind of thing.

I love that commode ;>.

You could certainly go with a "Robin Hood" period theme if you wanted to -- Forest Greens, wood tone door (done with dry brushing technique) and play up the castle feel that window gives you (and the "period" flavor that toilet gives you too).

Here's some other ideas along the same line:
Medieval Bathroom
Leeds Castle Bathroom
Inspirational Ideas of Medieval -- this one in particular, I'd take ideas from -- like some very nice green tiling that could be used either below the "chair rail line" or on the stand alone wall above the "dresser" (I think that's what it is) as a flavor treatment ;>.
Medieval redo Perhaps a darker gold rather than the sunbonnet yellow ( ... )
