Very cool! What were some of your initial thoughts as to uses of the technology? Have to admit, the first thing I thought was "Huh, you could mount a camera on it and get some pretty incredible shots..."

That was my thought, cameras. However, probably different applications. Have a transponder on it and it would make a pretty useful "painter" for laser guided weapons. I see this as mainly military applications, to be used in toys within a few years :P

True, my initial thoughts ran military too - though I thought it might be used as a small payload delivery device, or as a remote-controlled spying or assassination device. I know how the US were boasting when they could use computers to fly missiles down chimneys, imagine stealthily flying in through a window, attaching somewhere for intelligence gathering and/or to assassinate a target.

But yes, I was thinking cameras more in the sense of cinematography. It has such precision and fluidity that you wouldn't make an audience sick with jerky camera movements. I guess it's not a revolutionary new technology, more of a major refinement of current tech.

Could you get good pictures out of a camera small enough to fit on this thing though? I imagine it would have a fairly limited payload.
