For those of you with the ability to read it, this post is a rehash (more or less) of the Korean below.  I originally only wrote in Korean because, given the subject matter, it is something that seems more significant in Korean/Korea and also because it affects the people who read this in Korea more than those who read it from afar (since it ( Read more... )

I felt the same when my maternal grandfather went this past spring -- just normal. I felt bad for my mother, but that was pretty much it. I chalked it up to denial (from not having known him that well/not having been in Korea for awhile) and assumed that it would hit me hard later on, but it hasn't yet, really. I really don't know whether it's denial or I've come to terms with it.

Aww... that sucks. My grandma died when I was in Korea, which could almost have been taken as a sign of what was to follow :(

While I've had a few relatives die in the two or three weeks preceding Christmas, it has never been anyone very close to me. It sounds like you have a clear understanding of things -- I hope you won't encounter too many problems on your trip home.
