I guess if the economy totally fails I'll have to pillage some solar panels and start growing my own food. I can go back to fixing cars for a (barter) living.
And I won't have to pay my mortgage or credit cards anymore.
Everybody needs English to communicate and that really has nothing to do with the States. I do not work in the private sector so I doubt I be much affected. Except the exchange rates are a mess. The Korean won-Dollar exchange rate is higher than I have ever seen it in four years and it is fluctuating wildly. (It has gone up 20% in two months; changes of 5% in a day have become common.) So I cannot send money home but since I don't need to it is not really a problem.
SO glad I sold my house in Dec 2006. I might be the last person to have made money in real estate (we made 50%!)
If it were up to me...well if it was up to me A LOT would be different. It is not that I want people to suffer, it is just that, well, we have gone this far and I'm a little curious about how bad it will actually get. Granted the fact that I am not actually living there means the effect is muted.

Could be worse, IMO...

Yay for me!
The one I have now I have no intention of ever selling. Not with tenants (mostly) paying it off for me.

You could at least wait until I've officially left the country.
