People who love this book must have never have read anything prior to it. The kid graduated highschool at the age of 15 and decided to get rich writing an "archetypal hero story", he even admits to this. He got it published through his parent's publishing company and then went on tour to promote it

Actually, he got published by his parent's but then a reputable publisher picked him up. I honestly don't think you should be so harsh on him--he got lucky. Good for him. I didn't like the book, but a lot of people enjoyed it and there's no reason to deny them that.
Though I do think someone should slap that kid because he knew next to no math. You can know all the words in the world, but math is pure logic and without that you're sunk.

He also stole Brom, Arya and the whole three remaining dragons thing from George R. R. Martin. One of them might have been a mistake, encrypted memory sort of thing, but at least three instances of this? At the very least the kid's unoriginal.
And whoever edited him needs to find a new line of work.
