 Title: It hurts
Author: me
Pairing(s): HayaRyu
Rating: NC- 13
Genre: romance, AU
Beta by: none
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the characters despite wanting to
Summary: Now he was the teacher. Now he was the one that had to take care of those that are as he was once. Odagiri Ryu had to take care of a classroom full of troublemakers like he was in the past but just once in particular completely turned upside down his life.
Warning: Odagiri Ryu was a student of Yankumi.. In this universe, Ryu can be considered part of the first Gokusen series. He has become a teacher and his new class consists of the guys of Gokusen 2 [without himself of course.] in other words: Ryu is the teacher, and Yabuki, Take, Hyuuga and Tsuchi are his students.
Think of Ryu as the new Yankumi or something.

This fic is for yumenokoe as a thank you for the help she gave me with Natsu's sickness for the fanfiction: WIne and music.
I'm not sure how many parts it has yet. About five i think. I'm trying to make it even longer because the person I made it for is worth it.

Part 1

Part 2

It felt more than nostalgic. It probably wasn’t the right feeling he was supposed to have but he couldn’t help but feel a bit of joy when he stepped foot inside the police station. It brought forward unpleasant memories such as the times when he was picked up because of his fights or when he was charged with theft just because his wallet was found there. He still remembered who the cause of all that, and that was because of that his father gave him a great scolding and threatened him with school in Canada. As he walked passed some police officers and bowed to them, he could clearly picture in front of him Yankumi, bowing politely, trusting him and always standing up for him even thought everyone else blamed him. Yankumi had always been on his side, from the very beginning and proved he wasn’t the one to blame and now it was his turn to defend his student. He heard the name of the student that was in trouble but he still didn’t know exactly which one of them was the one the police picked up since he didn’t get the chance to take attendance and see who was who.

One police inspector stopped right in front Ryu and began looking at him from head to toes, giving off a really bad vibe. He didn’t seem to be really happy seeing him there and Ryu kept trying to figure out what was his problem as he walked towards the place he saw a student at his school standing with his back at him. At least he should have been grateful that it was just one student. When he was their age he would end up there together with the bunch and that meant four, sometimes five students the school had to pick up.

He couldn’t really see who the student was so he had to get closer in order to do that and he did. He walked all the way to the police officer there, bowed politely and waited for that man to turn his attention to him.

-         Excuse me; he began speaking as soon as the older man looked at him. I’m Odagiri Ryu, his teacher, he introduced himself, bowing once again, getting closer to them.

-         So you are the useless teacher…, the policeman turned to him and looked at him seriously annoyed.

-         I apologize for my student’s behavior! He bowed again, knowing exactly just what he had to do and say in order to get things over with and get out of there.

-         Since there was no formal complain…you can take him home but this better don’t happen again! The officer ramped again, leaving them while cursing silently.

Ryu just sighed and then looked closely around him, then turned around and walked slowly towards the student, wanting to know who he was. It came as a surprise and at the same time it wasn’t a surprise. So that boy was Yabuki Hayato, the leader of the 3-D he was taking care. The student just threw a glance at him, frowning then walked pass by him as if he wasn’t even there, opening the door to the police station with his foot and just casually walked out.

Ryu sighed and then followed his student from behind, knowing for a fact that wanting to talk to him right then would have just caused more trouble. It was not the best moment to dot on someone and to push his buttons because that would have made Yabuki Hayato even angrier then he already seemed.

It was the middle of the night, just few hours till the sun would come up and they’d have to go to school, but Ryu was walking behind Yabuki, in silence, no words leaving their mouths. As the student passed by a stranger, he accidentally bumped into him, making the man turn around, ready to punch him.

-  What the fuck?!

It was the first time Ryu actually hurt Yabuki’s voice and it didn’t sound anything as he thought it would. It was a pretty nice voice but the tone the boy was using was an annoyed one and it took away all the sweetness it could have. As he realized the man was planning on hitting his student, Ryu stood in between and apologized once more.

-         And who the hell are you?! The man shouted at Ryu, reading to punch him too but the teacher dodged and caught the first with his hand.

Yabuki finally looked him straight in the eyes and felt something weird as he did so. It was his first time seeing a teacher stopping a fight, his first time seeing a teacher capable of stopping a fist and not just avoiding it. Ryu licked his lower lip and then let the man’s hand go, bowing once more.

-         Please forgive him, he didn’t mean too, he spoke confidently, then rose his head and, more serious than ever, let out a smile.

After the man began casually cursing and moving away, Odagiri pulled his student by the sleeve and made him walk away, this time with him in charge. Yabuki had no idea what was going on. It was his first time thinking a teacher can be cool and be admirable. As he realized that he was actually feeling good about the one called Odagiri Ryu, Hayato just shook his head and tried releasing his hand from the grip.

-         Fuck off! He shouted, not afraid of his surroundings because they had just reached a park.

Ryu let his hand go but didn’t back away nor did he turn his back on the boy. Yabuki was ready to get even angrier when all of a sudden, the teacher finally spoke to him.

-         I can understand your feelings. Just like now…you were simply walking and bumped into someone, that someone turned aggressive, you were spotted and as you are a high school student  and have a troublemaker look, the police just picked you up. I know that so…

Before he could finish his words, he received a full blow to the face. Hayato finally punched him and seemed ready to start a fight right there, even though he knew that person was a teacher, his teacher.

Ryu didn’t say anything, he just smiled a bit and wiped the little blood that came out of the cut he got on his lower lip. He could understand. He understood perfectly because he was once the same. He too started a fight with Yankumi and learned the importance of fighting and the reasons for which one should fight.

-         What the heck do you know? You are a teacher! You don’t give shit about student, not as long as they bring you trouble. All you care about is having students with incredible high grades, that win competitions so that you look better when you see yourself in the mirror. When students go bad, you just ditch them and do your best to get rid of them so don’t even dare. Don’t you fucking dare give me that shit or I’ll fucking kill you.

Ryu looked up to his student and gulped. Those words seemed to be so honest and so powerful that for a second Odagiri actually believed that the boy would kill him in a moment of rage. Nonetheless, this time again, he found himself smiling, happy for some reason. It was true. Teachers were like that, most of them were like that and he knew it. He had the luck of meeting Yankumi so he knew there were different teachers too, teachers that actually cared. That helped him a lot so now it was his turn to help someone else. It was his turn to show someone that not all teachers were so despicable.

-         True.., teachers are like that, Ryu smiled again, standing up from the ground.

-         Huh?

-         Teachers are like that. They go around and boast every time one of their students gets awarded but when they end up at the police station or have trouble, they agree right away to expel them. Yes, teachers are like that. I understand, I completely understand.

Yabuki seemed to be going more and more annoyed as time went by. Was the teacher trying to be a smartass or was he just plain idiot and had no idea what was going on? Either way, he couldn’t stand him. He couldn’t stand him and he felt the need to punch him again. So he did. He once again punched Odagiri Ryu straight in the face. Ryu looked at him once and saw the look on his face and recognized right away. Yabuki needed to release stress. He was pissed, really pissed and he needed to cool down. Before he could say anything more, his own right fist closed up on his student’s face.

Hayato couldn’t believe it. The teacher, his teacher was hitting him back. A teacher was being violent. For a moment, he thought that it was impossible, teachers weren’t like that but then he remembered the occasions on which he got hit by a teacher, so he just smirked back.

Soon after that, they were both throwing fists, as if they were two teenagers and completely forgot what status they had.

Minutes later, they were both panting hard, feeling a tad relieved, smiling.

-         Fuck…, Yabuki cursed, not really sure what was going on. You’re a teacher, you’re not supposed to fight like this…, he let out in one breath, closing his eyes afterward, just wanting to calm down.

-         I am a human being. Human beings can fight even better than this, Ryu replied, smiling himself.

-         So what? You are a pro fighter now? Yabuki smirked.

-         I am human, okay? I was your age once.  I was just like you.

That last phrase totally made Yabuki get interest in his teacher. He stood up on his bottom and then ruffled his hair a bit.

-         You are one weird person. Usually teachers would say: I’m gonna get you expelled!! And yell at me the moment I lay a finger on them. Yet, you say you were like me? Don’t...

-         I was a delinquent, been a couple times with the police, got expelled a few times too. Teachers wanted me out of the way too. Know Principal Sawatari?

-         Principal Monkey Head?! Yabuki almost shouted, even more surprised.

-         He was Head Teacher at the High School I studied. He was close on expelling me a few times.

Ryu had no idea why he was mentioning that all of a sudden but he sure didn’t feel weird at all. It was as if the person he was talking too was an old friend, someone so close to him he could tell him anything. Of course it felt like that. It felt right and Ryu knew exactly why. It was because he could see himself in Yabuki Hayato so it sort of felt like he was talking to a younger version of himself. Then again, Yabuki was not him, he was a student, a completely different person so talking to him was even more refreshing then what he had expected.

-         For real?! But you’re a teacher!! Hayato pointed at his teacher, not believing one single word he was being told.

Ryu felt like laughing and he actually did. He was not laughing like a moron, as if someone just told him the best joke in the world, feeling rather happy. He might have still been in contact with his former classmates and he wasn’t an introverted but it felt as if he had not spoken with anyone for years and he could finally be happy.

Yabuki just kept staring in disbelief, wondering how in the world someone that was like him could turn into a teacher. It was as if he, Yabuki Hayato, could turn into a teacher. Now that was completely impossible. Society would have never allowed that. Despite feeling absolutely outraged by the idea, he still began laughing and joined the older one. He was laughing alongside a teacher, someone he should have hated from the bottom of his heart, and he was enjoying it.

-         Unbelievable…former delinquent now is a teacher…, Yabuki laughed again.

-         Don’t get into random fights.

One second ago he was still laughing, but the words that came out of his mouth this time were serious, meant to be taken as such and left a great impact on Hayato. It made the younger one stop laughing and look closely at his teacher, not even daring to blink.

-         What? he asked just to make sure he had heard something.

-         Don’t get into random fights. If you fight, fight only to protect something or someone special to you. That’s what I’ve been thought by my teacher and no matter how normal they might sound, they have helped me a lot, Ryu spoke calmly, smiling a bit as he looked Yabuki in the eyes.

He understood. He could tell Yabuki understood what he just said and that made him smile again. He did. Hayato knew what his teacher was talking about and he could relate to it. It should be like that, it was normal like that. He had always obeyed by that rule. He’d only fight when he’d have to protect himself or his friends and he never went looking for a fight just out of boredom.  He didn’t need someone to tell him that because he knew it himself. He wanted to tell that to the older one but as he raised his head and looked his way, the words just stopped inside his mouth and he could no longer speak.

Odagiri was looking at the sky, his eyes almost sparkling and that arose something inside Hayato. His teacher had a crooked nose, an orangey hair color, beautiful pinkish lips and his presence felt almost noble. Hayato gulped hard and then stood up, looking away, moving away from where his teacher was still standing. He couldn’t, he shouldn’t. Getting friendly with a teacher, believing his teacher, listening to him, that was wrong. Teachers were all the same. As far as he knew, it could have been just a way of transforming him into a puppet, his insider and snitch. He wasn’t going to fall for it, not at all. Teachers were all scum. Odagiri Ryu was one as well.

Ryu realized the boy stood up soon enough and as he met his back, he raised up as well and tried following. Hayato shoved his hand away and turned around really quick, implying the talk had come to an end and he better quit trying to talk to him. Odagiri couldn’t really understand. He thought he had finally managed to make ends with his student and to prove he is not like the rest of the teachers, but it didn’t last for more than a couple of minutes. Although they got along so well just before, now Yabuki was being cold to him again, acting distrustful.

Ryu sighed and returned home. In just a few hours he had to be at school so he couldn’t spend more time outside so he just went home and crashed into his bed, without taking his clothes off. Unfortunately, someone spotted them and was planning to use that as a way of getting rid of both of them.
