Chapter 3
Ueda kept knocking at his door and knocking, trying to find out just why Kazuya wouldn’t go out of his room and meet eyes with him. Kazuya was acting nothing like himself. It started about two days ago. Ueda returned home and wanted to open the wine shop but couldn’t because the young employee just wouldn’t come out of his room. He had to take care of the shop by himself, take care of his clients and then try to snatch Kazuya from his slumber. He sometimes thought he saw the boy getting out of the room but that happened only for a few minutes. Every time that happened, a few of the wine books the shop disappeared and that could only make Ueda smile. So Kazuya was working hard on something that had to do with wine. Kazuya was really working on something that had to do with wine.
He managed to snap out of whatever Jin put him into and then realized just what type of challenge the older one threw on him. He had to find a wine that could represent him and that was probably the hardest thing to do, ever. As a human being, in order to look appealing, he would have loved to present Jin with a spectacular wine, one that could knock him down and make him look in surprise just after one single drop. He would have wanted to give Jin a wine so complex and so tasty that it would have made him want to drink it every single day. Something extravagant or maybe something complex, something that felt really smooth or maybe something so shocking that it would leave anyone speechless but he wasn’t anything like that so it would have been a lie. He would have been lying to Jin if he would have given him something of a sort. Kazuya was full aware of that. He was very aware of that so he kept sinking deeper and deeper into depression. With every single book he picked up and searched through, he gradually got more and more depressed. He began feeling smaller and smaller and less important the more he tried finding a wine. It turned out to be disastrous. Three days after he began searching for a wine, he finally snapped.
It was break time and only Ueda was in the shop so of course he got freaked out when he heard some really heavy, slow steps, getting closer and closer to him. As Tatsuya turned around to find out who it was, he took a step back upon seeing Kazuya’s face. His hair was all ruffled, his face was rather pale but his lips red as wine, his clothes rather wrinkled and the look in his eyes looked like that of a complete mad man.
- Kame-chan..?! Ueda asked a bit unsure. It was the firs time he saw Kazuya looking that destroyed.
It made Ueda think he just saw some really incredible thing: Kamenashi Kazuya after three days of not taking care of himself at all. Tatsuya could swear Kazuya smelled a bit and actually began growing a mustache during those three days.
- What am I going to do?! Kazuya suddenly burst into a loud voice. What can I do, Tat-chan?! He is so amazing and so lovely and he has such an aura to himself that finding a wonderful wine for him is easy but me!? He’ll want to experience something almost perfect!!! I’ll completely disappoint him. I could lie but …
- Kame-chan!! Ueda stopped him, realizing it could take Kazuya hours to say everything he had on his mind.
It made Tatsuya chuckle but feel a bit frightened for his friend as well. Kazuya was not exactly the type to get so caught up into something in such little time and he sure didn’t strike as the type of person to fall madly in love with someone after giving them wine. Kazuya had a strong personality and knew when it was time to play cute just to get what he wanted. He had a bitchy side to himself and would sometimes go out of control when drunk, he would sometimes be incredibly calm and cold but always really hardworking and giving his best. The Kamenashi he was seeing right now looked more like a scared child that wanted to make his parents happy but didn’t know how.
- What do I do? Kazuya asked, this time on such a low tone that it came out in almost a whisper.
- Kame-chan…, you really like this guy…don’t you? Ueda asked concerned, not sure what he was supposed to say if the answer was yes.
- I can’t explain it, Tat-chan. I know he is just one of the many people that came here and for which I chose a wine but he doesn’t make me feel like he’s just that. I don’t know what is about him that makes me feel like this but he does…, Kazuya pouted a bit, clearly suffering.
- Well, people do say there is no actual reason for falling in love.
Ueda decided to sit down and have a talk with his friend and employee. It was indeed an unusual sight. It wasn’t the time to be fooling around or to be saying irresponsible things. Since he was the one Kazuya came for help, he was going to do his best to help him out.
- What do I do, Tat-chan? He wants a wine that resembles me and not only that. He wants to be completely taken in by it. How can I give him that? Kazuya asked with a serious face.
- Maybe he didn’t mean it like that, Ueda tried to say.
- “Make me get lost in you”, that’s what he said. How can I do that?
- Maybe it doesn’t have anything to do at all with wine, Ueda tried again. Maybe he was simply saying be yourself and let him get to know you more. He didn’t actually use the word wine, now did he? So ..next time he comes…just be yourself. That should be enough, shouldn’t?
Kazuya nodded although he didn’t really agree with it. Jin had something about him that only made him look more and more attractive as time went by. Maybe it was the way he seemed to just live and take one step at the time. Jin didn’t strike like a calculate person so maybe he was just doing things he felt like at each given time. He was just passing through life without pre-planning and maybe that was what made him so appealing.
- I want to fascinate him…, Kazuya confessed. I want to knock him out his feet and make him worship me. I want him to love me. Can I make him love me with just that?
Ueda took a deep breath and then smiled.
- Kazuya…do you love him because of the wine you choose for him or for himself? If it’s because of the wine… then you don’t love him.
Kazuya looked down for a bit and then smiled for himself. He thought Jin was amazing and that’s why he could find such a wine for him. He felt Jin was amazing that’s why he feared he couldn’t match up. Kazuya was not amazing like that so of course he couldn’t find a wine to charm Jin with. As he looked at Ueda once again, an even brighter smile appeared on his face.
- Of course I love him. Isn’t that how I was able to find a wine so perfect for him?
Ueda smiled some more and actually giggled as he heard what Kazuya said. He believed the youngster was right. He loved Jin so he could tell things about that man just by being around him and that was how he could know what wine suited him.
- Kazuya… now you must realize what you should do, don’t you? Ueda smirked at him.
Kamenashi looked confused for a minute but then realized just where he went wrong as well. He was able to choose a wine for Jin because he was in love with him and noticed certain things about him. If so, choosing a wine to represent Kamenashi Kazuya had to be easy since he was him and no one knew Kazuya better than himself. Kazuya nodded and then set up right away. He knew how to choose a wine but that meant he had to be just honest. He had to be honest even thought that meant the wine would end up being a really simple one.
In another few days, Kazuya had made his mind just what type of wine he should give Jin. As he finally decided what wine would suit him, he realized another five days passed without Jin coming to the wine shop. He had been so concerned about choosing a wine that he completely forgot that the reason why he had been so crazy about finding one. When realizing that, he became seriously depressed. Of course, he was thankful for all the time he had in order to find the perfect wine but after all the adrenaline went away; he couldn’t help but miss Jin. It seemed that the older one had the habit of coming once every week and see him but was it going to be the same this time around? Five days had already passed so that meant that sometime in the next two days Jin was bound to show himself. Tough luck! Jin didn’t. Kazuya kept waiting with a tight notch in his stomach and always flinched when the door opened but for the next four days there was no sight of Jin.
It actually made Kazuya wonder if Jin was fooling around with him. Leaving aside the fact he had not confessed to Ueda that he and Jin kissed, he no longer knew what was going on. He was kind of afraid to tell his friend the truth because he didn’t want to hear Tat-chan say that man just wanted to fool around with him. He didn’t want to think Jin was fooling around with him because he wanted to trust in the stranger and think he could fall in love with him. Jin did love him, right? Otherwise… why did he do that? Why did Jin kiss him?
Ueda had his own things about Jin that he doubted. First of all, he just couldn’t believe Jin knew nothing about wine. Leaving aside the amount of money Jin always left on the counter before exiting, it was his way of holding the glass that caught his attention. Only those that knew quite a bit about wines would naturally hold the glass a bit tilted to see the wine hues, and the pause between holding the glass and drinking was used for smelling. No matter how he looked at it, Jin did know a few things about wine and maybe even more than he wanted to let people know. Kazuya might have been too amazed by the man to notice things like that but Ueda did. It was just something about his aura that made him think that and he really couldn’t explain it.
- Kazuya…, Ueda began talking although he really didn’t feel like doing so.
Although Kamenashi had been acting like a very polite employee and kept treating the clients as before, Ueda could still feel the sadness in his eyes every time the door opened and the customer was not the one he was waiting for.
- Kazuya.., Ueda tried again. In a few days, I have to go away for a meeting so you’ll have to take care of the shop for a couple of days, okay?
- Okay, I’ll take care of it, Kazuya promised, smiling very brightly.
Ueda nodded his head but was pretty much sure that Kazuya was going to have a harsh time by himself. Tat-chan couldn’t help but fell scared when thinking that Jin might come to the store during that time and Kazuya will have a harsh time in dealing with his crush. He feared Kazuya would only get hurt if he meets Jin again.
Those couple of days were going to be crucial for Kazuya. Will Jin really get lost into Kazuya or something bad will happen? They were going to make all the difference and change things for both him and Jin. Two very full days. Full…of everything. Of what to be more exact? Well…use your imagination for that.
