Kazuya took a deep, a really deep breathe in as he arranged his clothes and made his way out of his apartment. He knew now there was no way going back, not after meeting the demon-father of his four years younger girlfriend. Okay, he had heard it before. He was complicating his own life by dating someone so petite and innocent, having to stop himself from a lot of things: such as deeper kisses, and he also needed to meet the father since he had found out about his reputation.
According to Kazuya's friends and Miki, her girlfriend, Akanishi Jin was a strict man, that didn't allow anyone to break his rules or lie to him. Since he himself got married and had kids, well...just one, at the age of 16, he was particularly more strict with her than it was supposed to.
As Miki said it herself: Dad did marry and had me at 16, but he'd kill me if I'd follow in his foot steps.
Well, she had also mentioned a couple of things about Mr. Akanishi that made Kazuya wonder himself why in the world is he dating her. Well, it wasn't like they did anything more than holding hands and small kisses on the cheek but he was a guy and he couldn't live with just that. So when she told him she can only be more opened to him if he gets permission from her father, Kazuya took a chance. He still remembered how his friends laughed at him.
Flashback
- I really don't get you,Kame. It's almost like having a kid always around you, Koki told him while holding his stomach and laughing his ass off.
- Shut up, Koki..., Kame hissed, hitting the other in the leg.
- Seriously now. Have you even properly kissed? And I mean a kiss. My girlfriend and I already got laid and you didn't even move to a kiss on the lips., Koki continued, laughing even more as he recalled seeing them bit bye bye's with a kiss on the cheek .
- Koki!!! Kazuya threatened, his eyes getting smaller and a dangerous spark appearing in his eyes.
- Well...I can understand, Tat-chan smiled gently. With the past her father had, he probabbly brought her up in a way he could prevent the history from happening again. Maybe he's afraid you'll knock her up and dump her. Anyway...even if it wouldn't be so... she is still far younger than you so she doesn't know things like kisses and sex. You could teach her , of course..but then....
- Then The Daddy will skin you alive!!! Koki joined almost in a cue, this time both of them almost falling of their chairs as they continued making fun of Kazuya and his so childish relationship.
- Fuck you both! Kazuya muttered, crossing his arms and pouting. She's 14 and..
- Exactly. Can't you date someone that's...I don't know... at least 16 or over? Koki cracked up again.
- Ma ma ma..., Tat-chan stood up just in time to stop Kazuya from throwing a fist in Koki's direction.
- I know she's too young...and I wanna kiss her properly too but even though I still can't...she is just to adorable and sweet. There's something about her..., Kazuya confessed.
- Yeah...thank god she doesn't have ponytails!! Koki commented once more, this time receiving a hard kick in is knee.
- Well..it's not like nothing can be done. The father is the biggest problem, Tat-chan said before picking up his glass so he could take a sip.
- I know..that's why I'm planning of formally introducing myself to him.
Koki stopped laughing and opened his mouth wide while Tat-chan almost chocked on his drink and spilled some all over Koki's face. Of course, Koki was in shock so he didn't feel anything but Tat-chan was quick to react.
- Are you sure, Kame? Doing that would be the same as telling the world it's something serious going on. Think about it...in a few months things might change. Why..
- Don't worry, Tat-chan. All I have to do is show the man I'm not some rapist or perverted man, he'll get to like me and even if we break up I'll make sure it doesn't turn against me. But the only way I can get closer to her is if I break the wall called Akanishi Jin and turn him to my side.
End Flashback
Or so he said. Because now, ready to meet up with her, he only wanted to run away or hide behind some really big rock. Especially after she had told him that her dad got seriously angry when he found out her boyfriend is almost 19. He had to be an exemplary boy if he wanted to get anything more out of the relationship. Actually, he had to be perfect if he wanted to continue it because one single mistake and he was dead. Literally.
He had heard a lot about Akanishi Jin. He wasn't sure which of it was true but the one that portrayed him as a former delinquent that knocked up her girlfriend and had to get married, then find a job but had luck and managed to open a company and then became a nice, family guy, sounded to be the closest one to reality. After all, only that would explain why the father was so strict with his daughter. Actually, if it was true that didn't help Kazuya at all because he was working in a garage, fixing cars when he wasn't studying, he smoked and drank, had his history of fights and wasn't exactly a saint. So yeah...Kazuya felt like turning around on his toes and escaping the moment he ended up in front of the beautiful, two floored house.
He looked at himself again. His white t shirt was a bit too tiny, he concluded. And maybe it was a good idea to button up the two buttons he had left undone. Then again..if he did that, with the jacket he was wearing, he would have looked like an idiot so he left them like that. Shit, maybe thinking back, the blue vintage jeans weren't the best option.
But then again..he did look like a 19 years old man and attempting to change anything about his image would have made it all look fake. He could act like a nice boy because he wasn't all that bad, but wearing a suit and tie would have been stupid. Ok, so that was it. He pressed the small red circle and a ding dong was heard before a few quick steps resounded his way and the door flung open.
Kazuya smiled, a bit more relaxed now that he was seeing the pretty 14 years old girl. She smiled back at him, taking his hand in hers and showing him inside. He was expecting to see her father all grumpy on the couch but the only sign he got of the dad were the shoes and the coat on the hanger.
- Is your dad here? he asked while looking around.
- Daddy is in the kitchen, preparing the dinner, Kazuya-kun.
He could only smile at her reply. At first he was bothered about her calling him that but now he was pretty much used to it. When the door to the kitchen opened, his heart stopped for a minute. He was going to meet that beast of a father that became an obstacle in his relationship with Miki.
Miki quickly ran to her dad's side, smiling brightly as she pointed at the young lad waiting in the hallway. Kazuya gulped hard and licked his lips. He had heard a saying something like: the devil is pretty; but not that pretty.
The one that was supposed to be the tyrran father looked young, had a nice tanned skin, normal brownish hair that seemed to sparkle, an earring in his right ear, hair tied up in a tail at his back, and wore a simple white shirt with black trousers. Kazuya gulped once again as he noticed the brown eyes staring at him and he could swear that for a second there the father had just looked inside his soul and figured him all out.
- Good evening, sir, Kazuya bowerd, remembering himself to be respectful.
A smile appeared on the man's face and judging by the way Miki was smiling too, that meant it was a good sign.
- Welcome. I am Akanishi Jin, the man spoke and once again Kazuya couldn't move.
A rather husky, low voice, probably because the father was a smoker, he thought as he realized the voice was also completely different from what he had expected. Why did he ever thought Akanishi Jin was a big man, scary and cruel, that would shout and curse a lot?
Akanishi Jin looked elegant even though he wore those simple clothes. He didn't look his age, actually he looked younger and Kazuya couldn't get why. His parents had always told him having kids makes one feel old but Akanishi looked as if he didn't even got married, not to mention had a daughter.
- Something wrong, Kazuya-kun? Miki asked concerned.
- Ah, no, forgive me. My name is Kamenashi Kazuya, he bowed again, making a mental note not to do something like that again because the next time would be the last time.
- Well...Kazuya..., the man spoke and Kazuya could swear he felt a bit of danger there.
- Daddy...let's eat first...okay? You didn't eat today and neither did I and I'm sure Kazuya-kun is hungry too, ne?
Kazuya watched as the expression on the father's face changed completely. The normal, polite features were replaced by a bright, gentle smile as he simply let out a nod and patted her on the head.
- Perhaps Kazuya would be nice to help me with them while you set the table? Jin looked at him and Kazuya could tell it wasn't a question but more of a subtle way of telling him to come or else.
Kazuya gulped once more and followed the older one into the kitchen. Jin walked straight to the oven and pulled out what was inside, uncovering the aluminum sheet before sticking a fork in the cooked meat to see if it was done. He saw the other pointing at a plate sitting on the counter and walked all the way there. He was almost ready to turn around when he got the shock of his life. Akanishi Jin was standing right in front of him, with a serious look on his face. Kamenashi just put the plate back down and then took another deep breathe. That was it.
- So...Kazuya is it?
- Yes, sir.
- I'd like to make a few things clear..to just point them out. Tell me if I get them wrong.
- Yes, sir.
- You are almost 19 and yet, for the past month, you have been dating my 14 years old daughter. Correct?
- Yes, sir, Kazuya gulped again.
- Good, good so far..., Jin took a step back, looking really serious at the boy. How far have you gone?
- Excuse me, sir? Kazuya almost felt like chocking, already gathering too much saliva inside of his mouth because of being afraid to move, even gulp.
- I asked you have far have you gone with my daughter. How far?
Kazuya gathered all his courage and licked his lips again, deciding to be honest since the father wanted to be straightforward as well.
- We've only hold hands and kissed on the cheek, he replied.
As he saw Akanishi raising his eyebrow in suspicion, Kazuya realized it sounded so much of a lie that no wonder everyone laughed at him when they understood it as to be true.
- I mean it, sir. We have only hold hands and kissed on the cheek, he said it once more, this time embarrassed of his own confession.
- You do realize she is 14, right?
- Yes, sir, I do.
- And she will not have sex with you.
Kazuya opened his eyes wide in shock, surprised a father could be so straightforward as to even mention his daughters intimate issues. He didn't know if he should relax or not when he saw the other chuckling as if his reactions amused him.
- Listen. I have nothing against you, it's just that the age difference, in this case, is significant. If she would have been 18 and you 23, or even 17 and you 22, it would have been better. She would have had enough knowledge about real life but she is only 14. For her, the idea of romance is what she sees in those shoujo manga when they hold hands, go into the Ferris Wheel and then proclaim their love under a starry sky. You're 19 and you have different needs than her. So...
Kazuya had listened so far to what the man had to say and he had to admit that he found no flaw in the way of thinking. Nonetheless, it almost sounded as if Akanishi was considering him a sex freak that couldn't accept her innocence and wait for her and for that reason alone he had to speak up.
- I'm sorry, sir, but I don't like what you are implying.
He knew he wasn't playing it safe but he really didn't care. Well, he did a little especially after seeing the older man glare at him.
- You..
- I know the difference is important. That's why I am here. To prove I don't just want to fuck her and then leave. I like her. Maybe I don't love her but I like her. She is cute, nice and always smiling and it makes me feel nice being around here. It's true I wish I could have a proper kiss with her but I can wait.
- No you can't.
- Excuse me?
- I had a kid at the age of 16. You are 19 and..
- Even if you made a mistake when you were younger, that doesn't mean I'll do the same thing. If I ever feel that I want more and can't stop myself from desire it, I'll just break up with her. Now I like her, now I want to be with her. If I'd know about the future, I'd get rich and famous. You might be strict with her but you can't control the future. I'll behave and so will she and what happens will happen. Now if you excuse me, I don't want to make her wait any longer.
Kazuya picked the plate back up and started walking towards the door when he felt he should just stop and say one more thing.
- If it makes you feel better, I'll report on anything that we do. Just give me a chance..., Kazuya bowed a little. Enough to make his point and enough to not tumble the plate down or get his hair inside the food.
Jin was left alone inside the kitchen. He walked close to the counter in the middle of the room and supported both his hands on it. He didn't see that coming. He didn't expect the boy to have a personality, to be that well up on his feet or that responsible about his actions but Jin had to admit he was rather pleased by it.
He picked the rest of the plates up and followed the boy into the living room. He set down, KAzuya and Miki on the other side of the table, looking rather uncomfortable.
- I'll just say one more thing because I don't like eating my food with bad feelings. When you two when on those dates, no one told me about it and I got worried. In order to prevent me from having a heart attack wondering where you are and what you are doing, and as a way to prove you're not messing around, I want you to not date Kazuya until you turn 15.
- What...? But daddy!! Why?
- Because then he'll be 20 and I can put him in jail if he hurts you in any way.
Kazuya once again gulped hard and stopped breathing. Miki covered her mouth in surprise and then took the hand down, pouting as she didn't agree.
- But Daddy... how else can I see him?
- You can see him here, Jin replied normally. You will be together only where I can see you until you turn 15. That's two weeks from now. Prove me you can follow my rules and I'll allow you to properly date.
- Seriously!!???
Miki began smiling so happily, almost jumping of her seat of joy when she heard that coming from her father's mouth. Kazuya only frowned a little. He didn't like it one bit. Why should he be supervised as if he was in prison or something? What Jin had said could have only meant on thing.
He had to ask for permission before seeing here, no matter where, he had to be around the father even if he came there for her, he would have to follow the timetable the father came up with and not allow one single mistake or he lost.
He saw Akanishi Jin smirking at him, almost as if he was telling him that sooner or later he will have enough and give up. Kazuya clicked his tongue and then nodded, making a silent vow to prove the man just how wrong he was about it.
Arriving home that night, he spoke to his friends about what happened and just as he had expected, they all began laughing at him. He knew it sounded bad but he didn't care. It wasn't anymore about him and Miki but about him and Jin. At that time he didn't realize that. He figured it was all because he was offended but time revealed it all.
Just to spite Akanishi Jin, Kazuya returned to the house that same week, at the end of it. He hugged Miki really hard then politely greeted the father and stepped inside the living room to watch a movie with her since there weren't many things he could do with her with the father on his back. He picked a comedy, mostly because he thought that it would keep him entertained, her too, and take the annoying father off his shoulders. Halfway through it though, Miki suddenly bursted into laughter and pointed at her dad.
- That was just like you did it!! she laughed even harder.
- He?? Jin pouted, looking at the screen in surprise. Totally not! he sulked as he threw a glare at his daughter.
- Yeah it is. It happened two years ago, remember? You put the food in the over, then went to the bathroom and shaved but smoke started coming out. You ran out of the bathroom but knocked a vase while at it and then remembered you were half naked and ran back inside. After putting the trousers on, you ran back to the kitchen again, slipped on the water while you opened the oven and pulled the tray and then you feel down..., she quickly began speaking, surprising even Kazuya at how fast she could be.
- Totally not!! the father pouted again, gaining the look of a child as he did that.
- So yes! You slipped and fell down, the cake on your face and since you were shaving the white stuff was there too. You looked as if someone just threw a birthday cake at you, she laughed again.
Kazuya immediately pictured an Akanishi Jin doing all that and then falling down on the floor with only trousers on, carrying the same expression as the guy in the movie. He couldn't help but find it cute but as he did his eyes turned the man's way. Strangely, his heart skipped a bit as he looked at the older one.
Sitting on the couch, wearing a white shirt, blue pants, hair loose and fluffy, almost curled up, with a pout on his face but sparkling eyes, with the lights out and only the screen of the Tv taking a way a bit of the darkness, Jin looked quite...hot.... . Kazuya shook his head at the conclusion and turned his attention towards the younger girl that kept one mocking her dad.
Kazuya continued laughing himself but mostly because he found it awfully funny how a scary man like Akanishi Jin could be so easily bullied by a 14 year old. So...Jin had a daddy's girl complexion. Kazuya chuckled to himself, thinking for the first time that maybe, just maybe, Akanishi Jin wasn't really a tyrant.
The same type of thing happened the next day when Kazuya saw Jin seriously confused as to how to answer to an elementary math problem.
- Well...uhm...this law thingy..., he started but really couldn't tell what the circle meant. And since when 1 1 = 3?
- Yes, daddy? she asked in a hurry, since she couldn't spent time with Kazuya until she had all her homework done.
- Uhm..., well... the circle ya know.... I mean..you know..., he corrected his way of speech, realizing it wasn't proper.
- Come on, daddy!!!
- You know what? Leave this here, go spend time with him and then finish it. After all, you do have just this one right?
Miki nodded and waled all the way to Kazuya while Kame only felt the need to giggle a little because of the way Akanishi decided to avoid the matter. As if two hours later he was going to be an expert. They watched another movie, this time she had picked it, but Kazuya found it a bit too childish. Was that what Akanishi had meant by age difference mattering? He excused himself so that he could go to the kitchen and have a glass a water but stopped right at the door when he heard the father's voice.
- Okay, Ryo. Thanks, man. I could never forgive myself if she get's a bad grade because of me.
Kazuya leaned a bit on the door frame. So that was where Akanishi Jin had been for the past 40 minutes, not even once butting in their lives, in his. Kazuya paid even more attention when he heard the older man saying good-bye to whoever he was talking and then taking a deep breathe.
Jin smiled to himself while brushing his hair back. He was so relieved to have found the answer to the problem that he couldn't help but want to share it with his daughter. He made once step in the direction of the door but stopped as soon as he remembered she was with Kazuya.
- Nope...can't disturb. It's their time now. Better repeat this just to make sure I got it right.
Kazuya only watched as the older one set down on a chair and began going trough the problem, step by step, trying to find out better ways of putting it without being confusing. Kamenashi looked down, a bit ashamed of himself. He had taken what happened with Akanishi on a personal level but now realized Jin had been like that only because he truly cared about his daughter.
His heart began feeling warm at the sight of the older one repeating everything. A smile appeared on his face and before he knew it, he was already walking close to the father, about to say something.
- That's not entirely right. Associativity isn't about that, he spoke out, making Jin look up in shock this time.
Kazuya thought Jin would glare at him but , instead, the man looked confused at his papers and frowned even more as he seemed to have forgotten what it meant.
- For real? Not about that? he looked at Kazuya with a puzzled look, making the younger one chuckled on the inside.
- Well..not all about that. Here, let me show you.
Jin just gave him the papers and stood up as Kazuya began dribbling something on the paper. He paid a lot of attention to it, seeing as the boy went step by step to the result and conclusion.
- Wait..so if I change the 1 with a 4 and the 3 with a 2...., Jin took the pencil back and leaned forward, trying to adjust the formula according to the changes.
Kazuya followed Jin's hand only for a while because his eyes got unconsciously attracted by the beautiful face so close to his. He licked his lips as noticed the flawless skin, too beautiful, too tempting, to belong to a married, with child person.
- Hey!
He snapped ut of it only when he heard the man calling him. Thank God Jin was looking at the paper otherwise Kazuya seriously felt his face would have turned bright red. He quickly glanced at the paper and smiled widely as he could tell the man it was all correct.
- Thanks! Jin looked up for the first time, flashing Kazuya a happy smile.
Was it him or did it felt good? He could see in Jin a lot of traits that Miki had but he felt far more comfortable around him then around his girlfriend. So comfortable that the silence turned pleasant, his heart beats were almost like melody and he felt like smiling only when seeing the happy look on the others face. Just what the heck was going on!?
- What'ya doing? the girl giggled as she opened the door to the kitchen and saw the two of them standing really close to each other, both smiling, next to the counter while a single paper was held by her father.
They both turned around, returning to normal, the smile disappearing as none of them found it fit for the occasion. Although...what was so wrong about it?
- I'm sorry, honey..., Jin spoke on a more tired tone, walking close to his daughter.
- Daddy?
- I tried helping but math is really not my thing and Ryo explained it to me but I forgot.
Kazuya saw as Akanishi took the paper behind his back and then turned it into a small ball, hidding it inside his fist. He then noticed how Miki seemed almost disappointed because of it. The two of them looked so cute. Jin was the typical father that cared too much for her honey, loved to spoil her and impress her while Miki was daddy's girl, always counting on him and obviously having a lot of respect and trust in her dad. Kazuya couldn't get it. Jin had found out half of it and he only got part of it wrong when he explained it to himself. With a little bit of guidance, not only did he solved the problem but created one of his own and solved that too. So why wasn't he telling Miki that?
- It's okay, daddy..., she replied with a smile on her face.
- Of course it is! he almost shouted happily. Kazuya seemed to know all about it so why don't you ask him pretty please to help? I'll make you some dessert for after you finish.
- Really? Miki sounded all hyper all over again, jumping in her father arms as a way to thank him.
- Yeah...I'll make both of you something nice, Jin winked at her.
- Kakkoii!! she giggled, kissing him on the cheek. Does that mean I can show him my room?
- Sure thing. Go.
Miki quickly grabbed Kazuya's hand and pulled him out of the kitchen but not fast enough to make Kazuya miss the ' Thank you' Akanishi had given him. Those two words alone made him want to stop her, turn around and smile back at the man but he could only turn his head around and spot the man sighing before the kitchen door closed.
They went up and Kazuya explained her the problem and she quickly understood it. Still, he couldn't help but want to go back downstairs and have a proper talk with her father. He couldn't, so he offered to go and see if the desert promised was finished so that they could eat. It was all an excuse and Kazuya knew that, he just didn't knew why he was making them.
He opened the kitchen door with a smile on his face and almost gasped when he saw the man wearing an apron, placing some cream on some muffins and holding his tongue outside his mouth as he focused. What the fuck? Kazuya thought again as he suddenly got embarrassed all over again. When Jin finished the arranging, he sighed again. He took of his apron and then set down on the chair, putting his hands on the counter, resting his head on them, looking at the two muffins with sadness in his eyes.
- Why didn't you explain it to her? Kazuya asked, not at all surprised Jin didn't jump in shock but just looked up towards him.
- Something told me she would like it more if you did. And I was right.
- What? Don't tell me you're jealous since I'm the boyfriend? he asked it as a joke but he seemed to have stroke a cord since Jin straightened his back and sighed again.
- It just feels weird. It was just me and her until just a month ago, he confessed. I learned to do so many things because I needed to take care of her and now came someone that can do them better. I guess I am allowed to feel a bit annoyed, right?
The question was directed at Kazuya and it made the younger one feel that same weird beat of his heart. The silence filled the room as none of them spoke anymore. Jin was still sitting on the chair, back leaning on the counter while Kazuya was standing in the door frame, hand on the door knob and a big pang loud ringing in his heart.
