First Buffy, now Angel...

...of course I expected it, but it still makes me sad. Joss Wedon has created some of the most amazing, developed, and complicated characters on any TV show and his creativity will be missed. I looked forward to Angel on Wednesday night, and as of late the show was downright fantastic. Hopefully it will finish out on top...

it wasn't his decision, it was the WB's. i was actually suprised, because as of late, Angel has been beating West Wing and other shows in that time-slot. there is some message from the network, stating that they "owe it" to the cast and crew to inform them ahead of time, so that they can wrap up the season and tie up any loose ends. The WB said they would like to do an Angle movie, or something like that next year. so sad!

As always, it's all about ratings. If a show fails to provide an audience to advertisers, then it's failing to fulfill its purpose. Unfortunately, it's not the quality of a show that counts; it's the show's effectiveness at delivering an audience. Shows are simply bait. Angel is just an ineffective bait for the WB in its effort to capture a specific audience. I'm just hoping James Marsters finds another role on another interesting prime-time television show soon. Joss should definitely drop his idea to make a Firefly movie and concentrate on a series of Buffy/Angel movies.

That was the most depressing news of the night (and yes, there was competition).
