Yesterday was the GCC intramural speech competition - the one I won last year. This time I was scheduled to be a judge. The night before, a note was sent out saying that due to overwhelming participation (read: lots of 101 students who needed extra credit) there was a shortage of judges - did any of us know people who might be qualified? I'd love to (though someone would need to take care of lighting, as I have little knowledge of proper lighting) and it's really the cost of driving as I have no life anymore. I have some activities on my calendar, but not so busy I couldn't help.

Just be clear, I wasn't reluctant because i did not WANT to be a judge... I just didn't think I knew enough to be a judge. Well they let me anyway. I had a GRAND time. I was as tickled as a pig in soft mud. Some of these young people were amazing. I enjoyed not being at work and really enjoyed the opportunity. I hope they ask me next year too.
