Washer/Dryer HELP

Jun 10, 2009 10:51

Crap. Our washer won't spin anymore. We so cannot afford a new one.

Scouring Craigslist and Freecycle, but I'm asking here as well: If anyone has or knows someone who has washer/dryer unit they don't want (in PDX area, obviously) PLEASE let me know.

Don't have a washer/dryer, but I've fixed an appliance or five-hundred....
If you're still hearing the hum of the motor when the washer should be agitating and isn't, it's most certainly (probably) the belt; pull off the bottom cover and take a look-see. If it's the belt, that's an easy, cheap fix. You can order the part direct from the manufacturer and install it yourself. Now, if it's the clutch assembly, it's still simple enough, but fairly labor intensive. You can do the fix yourself, but you need patience and probably several band-aids (lots of exposed edges on the sheet metal under there).
Hope this helps....

Ah, thanks! This does help. I haven't re-run the machine for a diagnostic yet, but we will. Any chance to save a little money, even if it takes some sweat...
