Just thought I'd list my recent blessings because my cup runneth over.
  • I live in a v. affordable 4 BR house with a river in the back yard.
  • I have my dogs back.
  • I have sexy bamboo shades for my windows.
  • I have a brand new washer and dryer* that can handle our ridiculous laundry output.
  • I have a new chest freezer full of frozen veggies.

That is so extraordinary - totally unknown here in the UK, even though the weather is such that you can't always, or even usually, dry your clothes out of doors! I don't have room for a dryer - and if I did, I wouldn't have one, on principle - and I also have no garden, so in our family, clothes are hung on a washing-line over the bath, which does very well.

I may do some of that, especially in the summer. It's not an uncommon rule for neighborhoods here at all, and I hate it. People think they are unsightly.

I like wind-blown clothes better than ones that have dried in the still air. I do like my dryer, but I doubt I will use it all the time.

The trouble with dryers is that they are incredibly expensive to run, when God's good fresh air comes with the planet!

I agree completely. I think such rules should be disallowed, especially considering that the American government is pretending to be in a 'let's-all-be-green' phase with tax rebates for energy-efficient appliances or insulation. How about the sun? Is that energy efficient enough?
