As I wait in the Hong Kong International Airport where it is raining hard outside, I realize it has been 3 weeks since I sat down peacefully for a few minutes like this. Indeed, it has been a very hectic 3 weeks in Bengaluru. The trip was a sudden one as I had be there at short notice to be with my mother as she underwent a major surgery.

This is the difference between a publicly consumed good, paid for by all and a privately controlled profit maker. Public goods have consistently failed in India as corruption has grown. It's pretty common for the Indian to dismiss public amenities as poor quality. I wonder if Indian infrastructure should be privatized or made competitive in some manner to raise the standards ?
Even though road projects are publicly bid, there are politics there making it corrupt.
I'm not a libertarian by any stretch, but a dose of it may help India get out of the corruption quagmire that is holding so much back.
