I saw two people recently that I hadn't seen in a couple years. They completely DID NOT recognize me. These were separate incidents in different locations. Eventually, one of them DID notice who I was. The other, I said hello to her and she didn't respond back! She just stared at me like I was a freak!

I haven't changed that much... or have I?

Maybe you have changed just enough.

This may not apply to your situations but I often don't recognize people if we're out of the context of where I usually know them. For example parents of students outside of school without their children I often don't recognize. Or, teacher's husbands without their wives.

That's true. One of the people was a former principal, and I saw her in NYC when her school and my school were there to see Lion King. She had to look at me for a good minute before it clicked in! I think it's probably a combination of not expecting to see me at that particular location and the fact that I have physically changed in the past 3 years. The other person hadn't seen me in 7 years and I student taught with her. She's the one that looked at me like I was crazy.

hahah, true ;-) My face looks the same though (minus a chin or two). It's just bizarre. In my mind, I'm still way heavier than I actually am.
