[Ardent appears, in the light, hood up. He looks straight at the camera,]

Alright, Barge, I would like to show you something I made, as I don't think I did a terrible job of it. Well, I hope not.

Oh that's beautiful.

[She kinda got he was talking about the other Rose]

You could hang it. Where was her favorite place on the Barge?

Oh, thanks. [Trying not to be too embarrassed, as his 'being creative' record is a small one.]

Well, the CES or the gardens. She kind of hated inside.

Sounds like the gardens might be the easiest place to get to.

...So you talked like this isn't your custom. Is there anything special you'd do in the winter where you come from?

Quite probably, yes. And it'll keep better outside, I imagine. Apparently, though, I need a door to hang it on. I should be able find one.

No. We live underground - seasons only matter in the sense of how much water comes through the rock. So doing something special just because it's cold and dark on the surface seems a little pointless.

Tradition is to hang it on ones' front door.

Ah, I see. Well, I guess that makes sense. I'll have to hang it with either way.

Each to their own.

Who was this Rose that you honor, Ardent?

She was an inmate who was here until recently. She graduated, and pretty decent for a human.

Should be? There is a lot here that is not the way it should be.

Doesn't mean we have to let it pass without comment.

Why not? Served us well before.

It makes it seem like you're tolerant of it.

The young lady is right--that's quite lovely. She would have been delighted with it.

Perhaps you might use the compulsion to write those silly letters to your advantage... ask to have it sent to her? Unless you simply made it to remind yourself of her.

Good. I'm glad I did a good job.

No. I made a stance on principle when I wrote my initial letter and won't back down on it. It's a nice thought, but I'm not cooperating with anything that was against my will. Even if it might help.

Understood. I suppose offering to do the same would still impinge on your principles. The thought is there, at least.

It would, yes. The thought is appreciated, but I would not want to comply.
