handfasting

my little brother and his fiance had a handfasting last weekend. the big fat jewish wedding is scheduled for next year. the ceremony, at the fiance's aunt and uncle's lake cabin in michigan, was beautiful. a small affair with mostly family members. we each got to pick a ribbon to tie their hands together. it was adorable hearing the surly teenagers ( Read more... )

First of all, I love that in your brother's handfasting flickr set, the first few pictures are of donuts. Second, I've always wanted to go to HM (in Zeeland, right?). My friend and I figure there's got to be thrift stores filled with chairs thrown away by former employees. Was it worth going to?

the herman miller factory itself (yup, in zeeland) is clearly not set up for tourists. they had a small showroom of currently made stuff. the showroom was cool and all, but aimed more at potential customers than anyone else. BUT i've heard that the antique stores in western michigan are in fact filled with herman miller furniture...a goldmine, really.
