Poll My Chemical Romance and other stories EDIT - For those who were unsure a) who they are or b) what they sound like, you can enjoy their new single to your heart's content: http://www.theblackparade.com/
!!! The voice of reason, so you are... it is likely we'll get a few but not loads... is that enough?! (actually I fairly persuaded by argument 2 - and although I don't really like them much, I don't think they're too offensive...)
Good point! But it remains true does it not? My reasoning (I think) is that they are more likely to listen to other stuff we play if they hear something they are familiar with as well.... at the very least the harm caused by playing a single track is minimal (unless someone decides to murder me with an axe of course)...
I agree but I'm not talking about playing a majority of tracks I don't like. I reckon probably I play 3 or 4 tracks I don't like in an average night, which is pretty low really - and even those I don't tend to hate too much.
That's not so bad. I got to the point at the Toreador where around 50% of stuff I played was music I would not play at home, hence me leaving. It became a chore.
They have been at the centre of numerous newspaper articles heralding the 'return of goth' for the umpteenth time.... I don't find them overly offensive to be honest - a bit cheesy and metal for my tastes but have heard much worse.

Does this mean I'm down with the kids? (PS I don't really like other stuff in the genre like Fall Out Boy or whathaveyou.)

The day you start playing a majority of tracks you don't like is the day you become a jukebox and not a DJ.
