I went fishing as a kid (little kid, 3-5, thereabouts), because my grandfather is an obsessive sort of fisher (when we would vacation somewhere, he would leave at 5 a.m. to go fishing and not come back until 6-7 at night, when the fish stopped biting). He had this secret sauce bait he used, and he modified his fishing poles to make them more effective, that sort of thing. I enjoyed hanging out with my grandfather, but I actually hate fishing itself. In the words of Dave Barry, "Fishing is boring, unless you catch an actual fish, and then it is disgusting." I'm not so much disgusted by fishing, but I feel sorry for the fish. So overall, I didn't enjoy the experience much (and less and less the older I got), and wouldn't do it voluntarily as an adult.
Hostel scarred me on two levels. 1) Oh god, torture porn, gross, gross, can't watch it, dear lord... 2) You can for the privilege of killing a person? That sickens me. So much. Like, normal people (well, except for their complete lack of morals) can pay to kill someone? Freaks me out! Because while I choose to believe places like that don't exist for my own sanity... they could. And I can, on a very speculative level, understand why any given person would want to go there. *shivers in the dark* It's so terrible.
I haven't actually seen the films, but they've been explained to me, and I thought they were based on something that had really happened?
Anyway, yeah, I agree that it's a very scary and upsetting thought. Ghosts in movies tend to scare me more because they're the kind of things we can't understand well. With humans killing other humans, it's usually just more sad for me. :/
Also HELL YEAH Carmen Sandiego. Only wtf was that where in TIME shit? Pfft. And dude. Beakman. XD THAT CREEPY FUCKING RAT that was TOTALLY boning the chick. And probably Beakman.
And fishing was a brief excursion, when a small 'un. And the... one thing floated away. At which point it was kinda "well, okay, I'm going to poke around by the river for a while, now." Which didn't make for a bad time, really. Or so very faint memory is telling me.
My "other" was Mister Wizard!! OMG! Loved that show. Bill Nye the Science Guy!!!! :D I think there was another I was TOTALLY into but I forget right now. XD

I also liked Square One, if any one remembers that mess.

Also, I grew to appreciate fishing more the older I got. Hated it as a kid, now it's not so bad, I guess.

My sentiments exactly.

I've only been fishing once, when I was 12, so I guess it's possible that my in-between-'adult'-and-child-ness left me with my neutral opinion. :D
