prenatal care in Deep River... rant

When I learned I was pregnant with my second child, I also learned that our local hospital doesn't "do" obstetrics, labour, or delivery.  You have to go to Pembroke hospital, about a 45 minute drive away.

I called the Renfrew County Health Department to ask for obg referrals for Pembroke.  The woman who answered the phone literally laughed and

Oh, hon, I really have nothing to complain about, do I?
I know Rachel was really upset by her birth experience with Fiona at an army hosptial still abiding by out-dated practices. I don't suppose there is anyway you can make inquires about the hospital or arrange a visit?

Now I understand why some women chose to go "home" a few weeks before an impending birth ...

Believe me I've made inquiries! Their facilities are great, their birth unit was completely renovated only a couple of years ago, they do have tubs
