This is so lovely, especially that last line of dialogue. Stories where Dom has to get over Matt really appeal to me, for some reason, and I think the quiet and bittersweet sort of heartbreak that you portray here is why. Also, congrats to your friend!

I was just watching you rapidly falling in love. I was just watching you slip out of my arms.

My heart skipped a beat when I read this part...you know why? Because I kind of imagined them like this...It could be true and that makes your story even more poignant.

"I've loved your dad for nineteen years, but I think I may be able to forget him, for you."

I could taste the bitterness of the impending heartbreak on my tongue. This was so heavy with raw emotion and beautifully written that I couldn't help but shed a few tears.
