Since you mentioned that RISD is where it's harder to find a job, that sucks.
I think illustration is something portfolio material. When I showed my portfolio to MICA, they actually liked my comics more than my other digital work. I'm hoping that I'll be able to do page 3, but I want to fix up the style of my characters by making them more realistic.
For me, I'm thinking of majoring in fine arts. I am not fond of transferring words in my art- as in the description in RISD says that illustration is transforming words into art, but I'm more of the 'see things- make it pretty' sort of kid.
You would be an awesome illustrator. :)
Also, right-brained is more picture-oriented. Left brain is more logic based.

I was just scared that the illustration course would be like UArt's where we drew these really crappy thinkgs I didn't show to anyone, but after reading stuff about it it is definately NOT going to be like that so I'm happy :)
I think by transfering words into art they meant like illustrating a story where the pictures are around thw words and how to make the words in it look like they fit, but yeah I'm not so big on words either, but you gotta work with it, ya know?
