Yes, he did make a great speech....but it's easy for hnim to say that, being famous, and successful and all. He is probably one of the .8% of the population of African Americans who have overcome the odds and have had the chance to make millions. But what about the average black north american who busts their ass off, day in and day out to make ends meat only getting nowhere? Does Cosby have a right to say to them to get of their asses and make something of themselves when they are slamming their heads against a brick wall?! We all kinda get lumped into one category. I find it funny that my family isn't even that most people don't even know the difference between the range of ethnicities in Black people. Yes, we're lumped into the same category, much as a lot of people can't tell if an Asian person is from China, Japan or Korea. I know East Indians who are darker than me and somehow we have bonded because we receive the same horrible treatment in society. I think my general point is that I appreciate as a public figure that he is ( ... )

Boosterbaby said "They hold onto their poverty, their low status, their woes, and blame the white man for it all. "Oh, my troubles all stem from the poor treatment I get because of my skin color. I'll never get anywhere because my skin is black."

It's amazing to me that she would have the gall to say this, especially since she herself is guilty of sitting on her rear-end, getting welfare and not doing anything to advance her and her families "Low status". She also whines and complains about being treated poorly by her college, about how she was treated as a child, and threatens to sue people every time they make her angry. She is the epitome of white trash, but I don't see her working hard to change anything about her life. So, why is it NOT ok for black people to complain about things that actually have some merit, but it's ok for her to sit and whine about her life when she admittedly has had more advantages, but is just too lazy to change?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.......this journal entry is a public entry leaving it open for debate on opinions. It is one thing to disagree with an opinion and back it up based on feelings or whatever. This was not meant to be an open forum free for all to bash people.......let me reiterate....bash the opinion, not the person. If your ballsy enough to call someone out, be ballsy enough not to do it anonymously and I'd prefer it to not be on my journal...no need for a warzone here.
With that said, not everyone has to agree to my opinion, the opinion of MJW or Boosterbaby. I just want the opinions of who is all out there. People's points of view....what is your experience, or what have you seen or heard of occuring within the district where you live? Please be respectful and leave the bashfest for the playground. Thanks.
