Panic! At The Disco 11/3/11 At the Trocadero

Nov 05, 2011 13:33

Hey F-list! I've been missing you! <3 I'm going to try to be around more often. To anyone who made friends with me over at tea_otter I'm going to keep that as a fic journal instead. This will be the primary journal that I use from now on for everything. :D

I went to the Panic! show

on Thursday night and met two really cool people. Jenn was my friend on tumblr already, and then I met this girl Alexa who had been to the M&G eight times in her life. This was my first one, so I definitely appreciated having someone near me who knew what the hell I was supposed to be doing. I showed up with my kaleidoscopes that I've spent the last month making with light_is_spent Here are some pictures of them!

So Brendon's was the Virtues scope designed and put together by light_is_spent, Spencer's was Vices and was modeled after his drum kit, which I used starafar 's incredible drum meta to get a good look at it. Dallon's was a collage of various flying machines and hot air balloons. Ian's was a lightsaber, although my clay working skills need to be MUCH improved upon. The dove was embossed on there.

So I'm standing in line, with these four wine gift bags, and Zack walks by and asks me what's inside. When I told him that I made kaleidoscopes, he asked where his was. I laughed and told him that I wasn't sure if it was alright if I made him one, and usually I ask someone for permission to make them something. He reminded me very much of my uncle, and I actually really enjoyed talking to him.

Once he took us inside, he gave us the creepy speech, which was hilarious to me. His humor is out of control! Everything he said was actually very useful, and to be honest, yeah. The stories he was telling us about previous creepy fans were CREEPY. Apparently, someone brought their bedsheets in to be signed one time, and that's why you're only allowed one small item. CREEPY. He said no hugs because being hugged by a stranger is weird, which it is, and that we were allowed to shake hands or give a high five, which yeah, that's a normal thing to do when meeting someone. He also gave us examples on how to take a proper photograph with the band, be confident, be happy, and keep your hands on their upper backs. Their bottoms are not yours to touch. :D I was over in my corner of the room trying not to die laughing because it was dead silent in there. My favorite rule was this one:

"If you want your shoe signed, that's great. I've heard that their signatures look really great on a pair of Chuck Taylors. But take them off now, because if you get up there and hand them a hot shoe, it's gonna be awkward of everybody. Take it off now, maybe blow on it a little bit."

I love this man. Hopefully I'll get to see him next tour.

So, we're all lined up in a horseshoe along the back wall of the Troc, when the boys come out. Let me just stop here for a second, and note that Spencer Smith is somehow more attractive in real life than I had anticipated. Basically everyone looked the same as they did through a screen, but somehow, Spencer SMITH. God. his precious fucking shaved face and his fucking EVERYTHING CHRIST. So, the line starts moving, and they were arranged Ian, Spencer, Brendon, Dallon. I only wanted my ticket signed, and to hand them these bags.

I put the first one in front of Ian and told him that I made a scope for him, and his little face lit up and he thanked me. He tried to take it out if the bag, but when I told him that there was a note inside telling him how I made them, he stuffed everything back inside like a kid peeking on xmas. HE IS TOO ADORABLE. Next up came Spencer, and Jesus Christ I could barely look at him. I told him that I made a kaleidoscope for him, and he said thank you just as Zack came walking by to collect the two bags. Zack asked me if they were discernible in any way ,and I told him that their names were on the bag and that Ian's was a lightsaber (IAN'S FACE YOU GUYS, HIS FACE) and that Spencer's looked like his drum kit. Spencer looked up from signing my ticket, and looked at me very carefully and said, "Thank you. Thank you very much." And FUCK. My threshold just went out the window, and I just said, "Your welcome," and moved down the line to Brendon. I handed him the bag and told him I made him a kaleidoscope, and he just looked at me with that ridiculously earnest face, and his super soft fucking voice, and said, "Wow, thank you. Thank you so much." And Jesus fucking Christ. I know  that it's not even that big of a deal, but of those two seconds, it really seemed like they were surprised and happy that I made them kaleidoscopes. The last one was Dallon, who was for me the easiest to talk to. I just said hey, and that I made him a scope, which he said that that was really cool and thanked me. Then I asked him if he remembered watching the "All the Drugs" music box video on youtube, and he said he did, and then I told him that my sister and I made that for him. He said, "That was you?" and I said yeah, and then he demanded a high five, which was fucking AWESOME. Dude, his hand in huge in real life, and I don't even have small hands. I told him about his scope being covered in hot air balloons, but by the time he went to open it, Zack had taken it away already. I accidentally said that last part out loud, and Zack turned to me and said, "Aw, now I feel bad" and actually looked like he meant it, which no, I don't want that. So I just said to have a good show and went to rejoin the horseshoe for pictures.

I went around again, and when I got back up to them I asked if we could make funny faces. When Brendon asked what that meant, I just stuck my fingers in my mouth, and crossed my eyes. I turned around and this is the picture that Zack took.

YAY.

Zack let the EE people in first, before we could file in behind them, since we got something they didn't apparently. I ended up being the third person back because the people started pushing before Foxy even took the stage. Foxy was out of control, and amazing as usual despite Eric eating two cigarettes onstage again. My favorite quote of his from the set, "What winks and makes love like a mongoose?" and told us about a lovely African American woman in an airport that asked him the same question before winking at him. :D

Next was Patrick Stump who was AMAZING to say the least. This is now the fourth time that I've seen him, and he just gets better and better every time I got to see him. This time he did songs from the Soul Punk album which were just wonderful live. Matt Rubano was right in front of me grooving along with his six stringed bass. CHRIST.

About halfway through his set, there was this girl and her guy friend behind me who started pushing against me, which yeah, you get pushed. That's what happens. In fact, sometimes I go to shows just to get pushed around, whatever. This boy started yelling about trying to push me out of the way, which I just ignored because there was nowhere to even push me to, we were that close. So they did the adult thing and started pulling my hair. Which whatever, I was thinking about tying it into a bun anyway. My hair was already in a ponytail, but I know how sweaty arms work. Finally, during a quiet part in between Patrick's set, the boy just screams, "PUSH THAT BITCH!" And my head spun around faster than Linda Blair. I just remember screaming, "ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!" First, he looked surprised right before he started sassing me. He was all like, "You pushed of us, etc. etc." and you know what? No I didn't actually. I was already there from the M&G whatever. I was ready to turn back around when my sister started screaming, "If you didn't want to be pushed around, then you shouldn't have gotten up front! If you don't like it, then get the fuck out!" and the boy yelled back, "I wasn't talking to you, bitch!" to which my sister yelled, "THAT'S MY FUCKING SISTER YOU FUCKER." because yes. We've been to tougher shows than a Panic! At The Disco show, and kids nowadays think they're entitled to something. They aren't. If they wanted a closer place to stand, then they should have spent the money on EE, or gotten there earlier.

The music kicked back on, and Patrick finished his set, and I kept up a mantra, that I was there to have a good time, and that I wouldn't let these assholes ruin it for me. Also, I didn't want to get thrown out of the show and arrested for punching minors. Before Panic! came out, Zack handed out a few water bottles to the crowd, and those kids behind me got one. Which was great until they decided to dump the last quarter of it on my shoulder and neck. But you know what? I just completely, stone-cold ignored it. I have had worse, and I will endure worse in the future, and those kids could not fuck with me because I was here to see my favorite band. SO FUCK. THEM.

Panic! came out, and the show was fucking amazing. Dallon kept throwing picks out to the general area I was in, but I never bothered reaching for one. Brendon took his shirt off for the last three songs, and shot out one of the speakers on the left side of the stage. The most impressive part of the night was when I found out that Ian had apparently broken his ear monitors the night before had to perform our entire show from memory. My love and adoration for Ian just went up. Spencer was fucking amazing back there on the kit, and I spent a decent chunk of time just watching what he does best. Brendon backflipped off the drum riser at some point and was hilarious as usual, but didn't really deviate from his normal stage banter. Dallon kept pretty close to the edge of the stage which was awesome, because I was right in front of him.

Aww I hope that he plans on another Brobecks album some day.

The show ended, and my sister and I left right after, because we never stick around after shows, and went home. My sister who doesn't really listen to Pstump, asked to hear it on the way home in the car. <3

And that was my adventure! Full of good times, and really annoying moments, but mostly awesomeness. I was glad that I got to meet Jenn and Alexa, and I really can't wait to see this band live again some day. :DDDD
