Is obesity our responsability?

According to all who are in my writing honors class, it is the responsibility of the government and the corpations to monitor our weight. Excuse me, but since when was it Mcdonalds job to monitor our widening girths? Is it possible that McDonald's is being targeted because it has been too successful? You know I'm huge on personal accountability. We also live in a lawsuit-happy society. Sadly, I think places like McDonald's are targeted precisely for the reason you stated- they are too successful. Capitalism is "evil" and large corporations are "greedy" for making a profit- such is the attitude of a large portion of American society. (That's why liberals want to tax the hell out of them). So, if someone is fat, it's a lot easier (and more lucrative) to sue McDonald's than to go to the gym every day. And if you spill hot coffee on yourself, just sue them for not having the foresight to anticipate your clumsiness. Wow, being an idiot sure can be rewarding!
