I was talking about her with my mother, who was a friend and fellow Judge about how they both categorically opposed the death penalty.
My father supports is in extreme cases, and so do I, but only when I approach it from an empathetic viewpoint of the victims, even though I know it doesn't serve a deterrent and sends the wrong message about the morality of state-sanctioned murder.
I'm sorry you lost your friend.

I didn't find out about Ed's death until long after it happened. Bali was so far away that it seemed really unlikely I would have known anyone there.... Turns out that the world is smaller than I think.

I absolutely oppose the death penalty. I don't believe governments should have that right. My feelings on revenge are a bit more ambiguous, though.

I was up there on Wednesday night to see the stage comedy adaptation of Alfred Hitchcock's The 39 Steps (which was great fun) and Times Square is so bright it's like daytime in the middle of the night. It actually feels like you're indoors.... like Vegas. All artifice. And the opposite of green.
I'd prefer street cars and Packards!
