Oh, nifty, it appears Republic has reached a settlement with them.

It's pretty awesome that they're doing this, but it's damn shitty that it came to this.

I don't quite get why Republic has not filed for bankruptcy. It sounds like they can't pay their employees, but the workers do have a legitimate lien against the company. In fact, the only reason I can think that Republic might not file for Chapter 11 or Chapter 7 would be in order to pay off other debts first or to hide assets, because in formal bankruptcy proceedings the back/vacation/severance pay would get dealt with before anything else.
