i need to write more

2 years ago i changed my major to English.  at that point (lasted about 2 months) i found euphoria in writing and reading.   took me back to high school (up to Junior year when i was in my writing prime but didnt do anything about). 
Back in high school i could find a topic and write a poem on it without a problem.  then from that i could write

I hope that you don't have an idealized idea of what serious writing looks like. It actually has very little to do with critiques, grades, and really, the opinions of others. (Well, it has something to do with that, in that if you want your writing to be marketable it should ideally be readable to some number of people.) But know this: Self-satisfaction is not a good quality to have as a serious writer
