When did rennies become pirates? I mean, I realize that they are similar and maybe even related a little, but I think all this attention on pirates has kinda taken away from what being a Renaissance Faire Enthusiast means. I like pirates just fine and all but can't anything be pure anymore? Does everything have to mesh under the same label

But i don't think of them as interchangeable,.,,
Rennies smell better than pirates..and that doesn't say much..

I do like some of what the many pirates who come to Faire bring to the table. They're entertaining and some of the costuming is top notch. However, it's a Renaissance Faire. Not a Pirate Faire.

Really, my post was more than just about your cake pic. It is about the state of rennie-dom itself right now. Pirates are so popular, in no small part to the fantastic acting done by Johnny Depp. As a result, everyone wants to be a pirate and more and more "rennies" are switching sides (not that I feel there are sides, mind you).
I do appreciate that site you run for the rennies, Keith. You do a great job and have a great community. Congratulations on 6 years.

About switching sides... First and foremost I am a Rogue... I go where the lovely ladies are, doesn't matter what side. :)
Speaking of sides however, I choose the Pirate side in the "Battle of Lions Field" because
a) I don't think the Barbarians would trust me on their side.
b) Oddly enough I prefer fighting on the underdog side.
What is this foolishness you speak of... People should always agree with me...
Except when I make a change in how you post to the forums then I get at least 2-4 e-mails saying that it was better the old way. Don't even get me started on what happens when I make a major to the site. :)
