Seriously, this is definitely one of the best Crowley fanfics out there! I love it and the snark and the wit/humor behind his motives, not to mention pain and power. SUPER GREAT JOB!!!
Crowley is my favourite - well, not quite. Mark Sheppard is my favourite, in pretty much anything and everything, and it just so happens that I love him best (after the Winchesters, because hey, pretty!!!).
This was fantastic! I began suspecting there would be something special about this Adam-the-mechanic, and realised he'd be a Winchester as soon as I actually formulated the 'Adam-the-mechanic' thought (dots connecting... aaaaand we have a spark!) but it was still a pleasant twist in the end to see it named.
This felt very Crowley in-character, for me. My SPN reading is usually of the Winchester variety, and I'm glad I clicked the link because this was a pleasure to read - thoughtful and insightful and ingenious.
I adore Crowley. He's definitely one of my favorite "baddies" for the series (I also like Gabriel)! So it was truly a pleasure to try my hand at writing something a little more serious for him.
I'm glad you liked it! I wanted to come up with an antagonist who wouldn't give up the ghost quite so easily. This fic is set in a time where the Winchesters aren't even a blip on anyone's radar (in the cannon, Hell doesn't realize Sam and Dean will be their golden boys until the 70's, when they manage to find Lucifer's cage) and all we know of John's ancestors is that they are 'a long line of mechanics'. I didn't think it was a stretch that Crowley could have come in contact with Adam, especially due to the time's tribulations and the coincidences which seem to govern the cannon.
Hearing that it was in-character is satisfying. Thank you so much for the thoughtful comment! There is a sequel in the works; is that something you think you might be interested in?
