dude it's just a picture. i made my journal friends only, so if someone who isn't on my list reads my journal, they'll see that pic. then if they want to read my journal, they have to comment here and i'll friend them.

Okay, now I'm really confuzzled... did I see Lucy and Ethel because I wasn't already on your friends list, or because I was one the friends list and the words on the pic meant that I was? Can you maybe take some time to explain, in small words, like I'm four or something, exactly what all this friends-only picture-post process has meant?

the friends-only banner is set on public view, so anyone that looks at my journal can see it. my posts are set as friends only - so only people that are listed as my friends can read them. you are listed as a friend so you see everything. jimbobsusie is not listed as a friend so he sees just the friends-only banner. he then realizes that my journal can only be read if he is listed as my friend, so he comments me here and I choose whether to add him or not. once i add him, he sees everything as well. everyone sees the pic.
