Bill stumbled into the head, his hair was still adorably mussed from their activities the night before, and a sleepy grin graced his features. He walked up to her as she brushed her hair in his mirror, placed his hands lovingly on her hips and nibbled at her neck.
“Morning baby.” He rasped against the juncture of her shoulder and neck, his warm breath made her skin tingle.
Laura remembered when Richard had made the mistake of calling her ‘baby.’ She recalled how she had snapped after he cooed it into her ear. From that day forward he had never dared to call her anything other than ‘Laura’ or ‘Secretary Roslin.’
“Your coffee is ready, it’s on the table.”
Laura let him steal a quick kiss before preparing for his morning shower, leaving her completely stunned at her own reaction. She had been furious with Richard after that incident. She absolutely hated it when he, and other lovers in her past had tried to push terms of endearment onto her, calling her ridiculous names during intimate moments, not realizing until too late what a complete turn off it was for her. She resented that they had tried to make her their anything.
But they hadn’t been Bill. He was more to her than a lover, more to her than every man in her past had been to her combined. He was her partner, in love, leadership, and life. She was his baby, his sweetheart, his darling; just as he was hers. Her man, her lover, her honey, her Husker.
Smiling, she slowly drew back the curtain to find Bill standing under the showerhead, with an expectant look on his face.
“There room for me in there?” She asked sweetly, already shedding her white robe and nightgown.
“Always.” He grinned widely as he helped her inside.
