Laura Roslin was blissfully unaware of the difficulties that were implicit with sharing a bathroom.
It wasn’t something that she had given much thought to before moving in with Bill. He was a considerate and extremely hygienic man, she didn’t think twice about sharing the head with him. Then again, she had managed to convince herself that they could share the limited space and maintain their platonic and respectful relationship. We can do this, she had told herself over and over again with conviction.
That was until their first morning as “roommates.”
Laura stumbled into the head, still groggy and grumpy.
“Laura?” Bill stood before her, naked save for a threadbare towel, which barely covered his crotch and muscular thighs. His face was covered in shaving cream and in one hand he held his razor blade. He was looking at her with a bemused smile; he didn’t seem to be at all bothered by his obvious lack of clothing.
A beat passed before she mumbled an apology and retreated absolutely mortified. She sat back down on the rumpled bedding in a vain attempt to calm her wildly beating heart.
She was definitely awake now.
Somewhere in the back of her mind, she registered that the hatch to the head had opened and closed again.
“Laura?” Bill’s gravely voice shook her out of her reverie. He was buttoning up the top of his uniform, that same damned smile still in place.
“Head’s all yours,” he leaned forward and deposited a simple kiss on the side of her cheek. “I’ll see you tonight,” he promised as he left for the CIC.
When the hatch closed and locked in place, she groaned out loud.
I can do this, her brain kept saying with false bravado.
You’re frakked, her heart replied simply.
