Her suspicions were confirmed the moment that his lips touched hers.
She had wondered, even obsessed, over the possibilities before that moment.
Laura had noticed the way his eyes travelled up her legs on several occasions; if she were totally honest with herself, she had often selected to wear a skirt on days that the she was visiting his ship. She had even noticed the way his gaze lingered on the swell of her breasts. Her white blouse had suddenly become her most worn shirt. She found herself anticipating and, Gods help her, wanting to feel his hungry gaze wrapped around her.
She thought that she had it figured it out; he was attracted to her, perhaps even interested in pursuing a sexual relationship. He made her feel sexy and young; a cruel irony given the fact that death was growing exponentially inside of her middle-aged body.
She was so wrong. William Adama was no Richard Adar; she had learned this the hard way.
He had hiked half of Kobol’s surface just to find her. He had left his ship, his command, even his duty behind for her. He had followed her drug induced, somewhat crazed hallucinations and put his faith in her mere weeks after she had betrayed him. It was then that Laura noticed the layer of warmth and affection that lay beneath the lust of his gaze. There was respect and admiration in his attentions; it had been years since Laura had felt that from a man.
The gentle caress of his fingertips against her jaw made her knees weak. The soft, tentative smile that he gave her brought tears to her eyes.
He leaned forward.
And kissed her gently.
When he pulled away, his love for her remained on her lips. Forever tattooed into her sensitive flesh.
