“Can I offer you another drink Madam President?”
“No thank you Commander,” Roslin politely declined; she noticed the dance floor was less crowded now.
“Gauis Baltar,” Adama chuckled.
Roslin sighed.
“I do have some concerns about him, I don’t think that he has enough experience in a leadership position, and if something were to happen to me, law dictates that he is to be my successor,” she said.
Adama grinned.
“Yes, I know, rich coming from me,” she said as she rolled her eyes.
“You’ve come a long way,” he offered her.
“That is quite the compliment Commander,” she said sarcastically.
“I am sure that you can understand the great amount of stress we were all under during the attacks, but you are right. My disrespect towards you, and your authority, was unacceptable. Please accept my apologies,” he said sincerely.
“A tempting offer Commander,” she replied with a smirk.
He stood up and walked around so he was standing right in front of her. With a grin, he offered her his arm for the second time that evening.
“Grant me the pleasure of another dance?” he asked.
“Two dances in one night? You know Commander, that’s how rumours start,” she countered.
“I prefer to deal with facts. Fact: I can dance, as I’ve already demonstrated. Fact: you’re not a bad dancer yourself,” Roslin arched her brow at him indignantly, “and I happen to like this song,” he said with a confident smile.
“What if I don’t like it?” she asked as she allowed him to lead her onto the dance floor for the second time. Adama dared to pull her slightly closer to his body this time, and she dared to wrap her arms loosely around his neck.
“Then we’ll just have to keep dancing until we find a song that we both enjoy,” he whispered.
