“Good morning.” A melodic voice tickled the shell of his ear.
He grunted and tightened his embrace around her middle; he didn’t want to wake up just yet, he didn’t want this wonderful dream to be over so soon.
“Bill,” the voice drawled, “wake up.” He cracked his eyes open, and met her amused green eyes.
“Laura?” he asked groggily. That stuff she had shared with him last night had done a number on him. His head was pounding and his entire body felt like it had gone through nine rounds in the ring with a centurion.
“Morning,” she repeated, leaning forward to kiss him softly. She tasted sweet and sleepy, her lips were soft and warm and a sudden rush of memories assaulted his foggy mind.
Her kisses were slow and deep, soft yet firm; her hands caressed the sides of his face and neck. He resolved that he could very easily get lost in her kisses, in the feel of her bare skin against his own.
“We should get up,” she whispered as she parted gently from him.
“No, we should go back to doing exactly what we were doing.”
“But we have places to be,” she giggled.
“Your cabin,” he said remembering. “You were going to show me where you’re going to build your cabin.”
“I was going to, yes. That is, if you still want to see it.”
He pulled back slightly and took in the look of bashful excitement on her face. He’d never seen a more beautiful sight.
“I do,” he nodded.
“Then get your ass out of this rack Admiral, we’re wasting time!” she said in her most authoritative voice.
“Yes Sir!”
When they finally emerged from their hidden sanctuary, the daylight was barely kissing the horizon.
Today, they were going to live the lives that they wanted to live.
