Forgot I had a journal...

Wow, now that I had the incling to post, I have no idea what to write other than gaming news.

E3 has come and gone, and sadly nothing "suprising" came out of it. The only true bombshell was Square Enix's announcment during E3's press confurance about the Multiplatform release of Final Fantasy XIII. With that cam a slue of Xbox 360 fans springing rumor after rumor about other in the pipe-line exclusives.

The first on the list is Metal Gear Solid 4, followed by Final Fantasy Versus XIII. No 3rd party exclusive in the pipeline outside of First Party studios (of which Sony owns many of)are safe. Lucky, games like Little Big Planet, God of War 3, Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, the Team Ico project, Resistance: Fall of Man 2.

Sony has the most first party studio's of any of the Big 3. With the loss of 3rd party exclusives Sony will have to rely on their own studio's to deliver a unique experience on the Playstation 3.

Oddly enough is the fact that there are still studio's (Including Square Enix) that are developing exclusives for the Xbox 360 in a double standard kind of way. Of course we all know Microsoft pays for it's exclusives and timed exclusives. Rumor has it that Microsoft payed 100 million for Final Fantasy XIII (which is still an exclusive to the PS3 in Japan most likely due to the horrid Xbox 360 following).

However, the Square Enix event, TGS, and Leipzig are around the corner. The gaming world will be fixed on the Square Enix event more than anything I believe. Square has enounced that Big News in relation to Final Fantasy 7 will be announced at there event this August. This would be to go along with their Blu-Ray release of Advent Children. The gaming world is a storm of speculation regarding the "Big News". Many hope that it is a large announcment for the PS3 to counter the events at E3. The most common rumors are Final Fantasy 7 released on the PSN and/or XBL, another spin-off game like Durge of Cerburaus or Crisis Core, and the last being a full blown remake of the beloved classic. The most realistic is a spin-off.

Capcom pulled a similiar stunt at their press event a year ago when they announced that Devil May Cry 4 would no longer be a Playstation exclusive. They announced great news for Playstation fans to make up for such an announcment. What was the announcment? Monster Hunter would move from the PS3 all together to the Wii and that the Playstation 3 would recieve a year old port of Lost Planet, a painfully average 3rd person adventure/shooter.

I personally hope that a remake is on the way. It would be the exclimation point on the going on 16th anniverary series of games. Many aurgue that such a remake would make it's way to both the 360 and the PS3 due to the recient FFXIII announcment. However, others aurgue that since the origanal Final Fantasy 7 was published by Sony, that would garuentee a PS3 exclusive. We shall have to wait and see at the press conferance. However, since most of the origanal development team is scattered around working on VerusXIII and FFXIII. Not to mention a slew of Kingdom Hearts related hand held games. In addition to that the president of Sqauare had already announced that Tetsuya Nomura (Character Designer of Final Fantasy 7 and creator/director of Advent Children and Kingdom Hearts) will be involved in another project that is in no way related to Final Fantasy OR Kingdom Hearts, throwing the possiblility of a Final Fantasy remake clear out the window.

When Final Fantasy XIII was announced for the Xbox 360 it hit me in an odd way.

It felt like when you are a kid you knew you were going to get this kick ass gift for christmas. You are excited and you want it so bad you could explode. Then Christmas shows up and you finally have the present, only to find out that you have to share it with your unappreciative younger sibling/cousin. He/She doesn't even want it, and only wants to play with it because you have it and he/she doesn't. Suddenly that special gift isn't so special.

Away from that news, I am planning on getting a joystick for the upcoming fighting games due to release this year: Super StreetFighter 2 Turbo: HD Remix, Soul Calibur 4, Tekken 6, and possibly Street Fighter 4.

An undiagnosed problem with my PS3 has surffaced that prevents the battery from recharging. It's not the recharger jack becuase it can still function when plugged into the wall. The only 2 problems I can see are: The battery is K.O and will have to be replaced, or, the slots that the battery connects to are shot which means the system is K.O. One is easily fixed, the other I am completely f*cked.
