I agree. Lenova isn't too shabby and the price is usually right. I have the business series which has a good blend of hardware. Good cooling system on it too as lap tops go. Light as well.

I picked mine loaded with shit for just under a grand but they have one for $200! :)

Bad luck with HPs, they get wicked hot and cook themselves. I have a Macbook Pro 17 right now and it's the bomb.

I like my Toshiba. Just make sure that what ever yiu get, it qualifies for the Windows 7 upgrade.

Same advice I give everyone - go to Dell Outlet website, get a certified refurbished model for 1/2 to 2/3 the regular retail price, with same warranty as new. Always go business model - consumer models are junk. Get Windows Vista Business, and no trialware crap preloaded. Recommend Intel C2D processor, 3-4 gigabytes of ram, and 160-250GB hard drive. Expect to pay $600-$750.

Barring that, check Lenovo or Toshiba. HP makes damn fine network/workgroup printers - best in the business - but they should've stuck to printers. Their computers suuuck. ;-p (and obviously, take note of my icon. Heh.)
