There I was, avoiding other work, when what to my wondering eyes does appear but... a meme! ...And it's one I feel like indulging in.
YMMV. Hence the cut.
The rules: Take your current WIP. Go to the 7th page, or the 77th, your choice. Count down seven lines and post that line... or post the next seven lines, again your choice. Then tag seven writers o' yer acquaintance to do the same.
I'm doing the 77th page of my 'Ocean of Air' thing, and I'm posting the seven lines after the seventh paragraph, 'cause this part has short paragraphs. I am amused; this is the first page of the second section. Note: I am contemplating removing Thomas from the list of viewpoint characters in the rewrites, because he mostly observes instead of does. But the things he observes tend to be interesting...! And not what anyone else is looking at....
Tag? What tag? Do or do not, there is no tag.
Exerpt:
Sommers saw it slide, too. He pointed and one of the sailors veered away from the shrouds to the body, scooping it up and dragging it to the deckhouse. Thomas hurried after, drawing Helena after him, his eyes fastened on the Queen's representative aboard. Surely the man was dead?
Wind slashed at them as they reached the door. The sailor was swearing; he couldn't grab the safety rail, hold Quill, and open the door at the same time. Thomas twitched to help, but stopped when he realized he was in much the same predicament -- one hand on the rail and the other on Helena, and he wasn't giving up either for the man who had commandeered Spiritus.
In other news...
Been busy as hell. Some good, some bad, some frustrating. The usual and the unusual, mixed together in a stress-inducing mess. In short, life.
Will likely be busy for the next several months. Aaiiee. Or something.
