UK to Passively Monitor Every Vehicle"There's no way to rule innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. There were people today talking about how Cuba makes everything illegal so that whenever they want to arrest you, they can arrest you on anything. It might have been JC and James... or maybe some kids at work. I really, really, really need to read Ayn Rand.

But they said making all Cubans criminals made them not respect the law (eating potatoes on Tuesday is illegal? Well, how gives a flip about the law anyway?), and that is a big problem when you try to bring democracy to those kind of people - they have never respected the law before, because they have never had law worth respecting.

Or are we getting that way, too? *ponder*

I don't think we should be getting that way.

If we are getting that way, I don't think it's due to lack of respect for the law. It would be because of lack of respect for everything.

Eh but that's our generation for you.

And I don't see the problem with the article. Big Brother isn't out to get everyone even if all of those cameras are for speeding or whathaveyou.

The government has the same traits as many other things - it's a "business". Our country couldn't survive on just the taxes - it would never be enough. But you pull in hundreds of thousands of people into the legal system, slap them with heavy fines and make them pay for 'rehabilitation', and you've got what it takes to bring in a ton of money.

There are some of these "businesses" that you cannot mess with or question, period. Government is one. There are some churches out there that are the same way. We're taught not to question anything related to God and our democracy, so it leaves us wide open to what we get ;-)
