Is this one of those things that you're more likely to get more often once you've already had it? or just bad luck? :/

Depends if it has time to do damages like puncturing the eardrum for example.

I will add that Wednesday evening, my friend where I live invited me to eat with him and his kids. We ate hotdogs and the breads and sausages where in two big bowls. I wouldn't put aside the possiblity that a bacteria came from one of these kids hand. God knows what can they bring at home from school. And since that I'm not usually in contact with them, my system isn't used to THEIR bacterias.
