This story made me consider about what it's like for the beings like Sylar or Peter. In this story Sylar's situation was beyond imagination. Utter loneliness. Absolute solitude. Why on earth could Sylar carry on so long without going insane? Or thinking about Peter made him keep his sanity?

Your description about the sound of the metal spike sliding out of Peter's head was really beautiful. I love this part;

Sylar could hear him come back to life; his heart starting to beat, blood rushing through his veins, brain damage healing, and the scalp mending itself. Then came thoughts, and he knew Peter would soon be awake.

Sylar's always been a little... erratic. But since he got almost half the country under his control, maybe it was worth a little silence and loneliness? Who knows why he really kept to himself... maybe he took up knitting or collecting rocks XD

Glad you liked the story. Hopefully it matched the feeling of "Deep Sleep" - and I hope that the sequel to these two, "Enemy Within", will also carry out the "legacy", so to speak.

I'm glad the two fics sounded alike, although the word count was slightly different.

I was actually thinking of first giving this idea for someone to grab at heroes-sandbox, but in the end I did it myself. Spared me the trouble of thinking about something else for the newest heroes-contest challenge ;P

Also, yes, I hope the sequel turns out okay. No idea when I actually sit down to write it since I think I ought to start working on my heroes-bigboom fic... It doesn't write itself, as much as I hope for it XD

Deep Sleep was one of my faves. I only recently became a Heroes (and Sylar fan) so I've been looking for all the good FF I can find.

I feel like a late bloomer too... started watching Heroes when season 1 had already ended. I've been a Peter fan from the start. Sylar... well, he's cool enough :D
