Perhaps this is posted elsewhere and other people have commented, already? I sort of stumbled on this by accident, in looking for another pairing. I don't generally read Ethan/Giles, not because I dislike the pairing, simply so many pairings so little time. I enjoyed this immensely. In the ones I have read or where Ethan is a character he is always such the bad guy that you pull against him. In this I actually took his side over Giles'. Ethan's sense of loss is palatable. And what he becomes later based on this is wholly understandable.
